NewsFlash: Lou Dobbs for President?

November 23, 2009

In an interview today with WTOP-FM in Washington, DC, former CNN host Lou Dobbs hinted at a future in politics – maybe all the way to the White House.

The website loudobbsforpresident.org, launched in January 2009 to draft Lou Dobbs for a presidential bid and Dobbs, post-CNN, seems to be warming up to the idea.

“Lou Dobbs would make a good president because he is truly a man of the people,” the Web site’s founder, William Gheen, told FoxNews.com Monday.

Gheen, who also heads Americans for Legal Immigration, said Dobbs “has been more in line with the American public on issues like global trade, homeland security and illegal immigration than either of the Democrats or Republicans we have been offered in the last nine years.”

When prodded during the radio interview for a more committed response to the question of his political ambitions, Dobbs replied:

“Well, I’ll tell you this much — it’s one of the discussions that we’re having,” he said. “For the first time, I’m actually listening to some people about politics.

“I don’t think I’ve got the nature for it,” he added. “[But] we’ve got to do something in this country and I think that being in the public arena means you’ve got to be part of the solution.”

Although the story is popping up on news sites all over the web, WTOP has yet to post the news on its website – even thought they “broke” the story – providing only a buried link to listen to the interview. Today’s top story on WTOP – supersizing Thanksgiving.

Anybody besides a career politician would suit most Americans I would think. At least with Lou, you know what he represent. I say give it a shot and perhaps form a party for the people while he’s at it.

I think it is time for the American Citizens to start impeachment proceedings of Congress for the failure to insure the physical and finacial security of the American Citizens.

I agree with you and go a step further…after they ALL get impeached (in both parties), next we start TREASON proceedings!

      I agree…

What’s the mechanism needed to accomplish this, cause those bastards sure as hell won’t impeach any of their fellow member of the club

Don’t vote twice, sir. Only liberals are allowed to do that.

As well as I think of Lou Dobbs, and with all due respect, we already have a talker incumbent who has no governing experience. Lou would certainly do better than the phony in the WH, but an experienced and accomplished governor would have a better chance o accomplishing what needs to be done. If Lou were from my state and ran for the Senate, though I’d vote for him in a second, provided he continues to show he stands for what I believe in.

Agree, but let’s also not confuse a thinker with a do-er.
