Obama’s Czars Versus Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
President Obama has appointed at least two Constitution wreckers as “czars” in his administration. Although Bill O’Reilly said on his show last night that these czars do not have any real power and are of little concern, I am not so sure. They demonstrate the dangerous journey that this president is taking us on, as he seeks to radically change our country’s 200 + years’ guarantee to “we the people” of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The first of these czars is Cass R. Sunstein, who is heading the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Afairs. He believes that the First Amendment’s free-speech protections need to be revamped in favor of more government regulation. This is right in keeping with the Obama administration’s attempts to marginalize the anti-tax Tea Parties that have sprouted up around the country. Indeed, Sunstein believes that “without taxes there would be no liberty.” I guess our Founding Fathers were just plain wrong when they started a whole revolution over taxes and the right to protest them freely.
The second really scary Obama czar is Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, John P. Holdren. Holdren was previously the Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy at Harvard. He also spent 14 years on the far-Left John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation‘s Board of Trustees.
Holdren is a radical environmentalist who believes that “natural objects” — like trees — should have standing to sue in a court of law. Such suits by trees would have a “most salubrious” effect on the environment, he opined. I think that Holdren has been taking too seriously the Lord of the Rings scene where the trees rise up to attack their evil enemies.
More ominously, Holdren believes that even when a person is born, he or she is not yet a fully formed human being! He has written that only after socialization can the born individual be considered human. He also has advocated zero population growth, which would necessarily entail government-supported abortion-on-demand as a universal human right — even forced sterilizations.
Maybe O’Reilly is right that we shouldn’t worry what these left-wing moonbats are doing as czars if they are just there for show. I hope he’s right, but I wouldn’t count on it. Obama is surrounding himself with like-minded ideologues who reflect his inner core and will help him enact his radical agenda to “change” our constitutional liberties by destroying them.
