Obama’s Radical ACLU Dinner Guest

September 18, 2009

Jameel Jaffer, pictured above,  is a litigator for the American Civil Liberties Union and Director of the ACLU’s National Security Project.  He is a darling of the far left who has litigated cases against the United States in support of terrorist rights.  He has also fought in favor of allowing radical Islamists such as Tariq Ramadan into the U.S.; Ramadan has been barred from entering our country since 2004 because of his alleged financial contributions to two Palestinian groups designated by the U.S. Treasury as fundraising agencies for Hamas.

Remember this picture, because Jameel Jaffer could become a regular fixture at the Obama White House.   Jaffer was one of President Obama’s select group of dinner guests at the White House Ramadan banquet held on September 1st.  Senior Obama administration officials such as Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and Attorney General Eric Holder were also in attendance.

Jameel Jaffer led the ACLU’s battle seeking public disclosure of highly sensitive documents pertaining to America’s interrogation practices vis a vis suspected terrorists, and won a major victory on April 16, 2009 when the Obama Justice Department agreed to release four key memos produced by the Office of Legal Counsel in 2002 and 2005.   Having gotten these documents from the Obama administration against the advice of the President’s national security team, the radical ACLU litigator is going after many more  documents:

We will argue that, yes, to the extent that the government has disclosed and acknowledged facts about the CIA’s interrogation program, at the very least documents that relate to those facts can’t be properly withheld.  I don’t think the government is going to dispute that proposition….we’re still hopeful that the new administration has made a decision not just that these memos can be released, but that certain information about the CIA’s program that, until now, has been withheld, not just can be released, but should be released to the public.

Jameel Jaffer also won a victory on behalf of Tariq Ramadan, when the Second Circuit Court of Appeals overturned his visa denial and remanded the case to the lower court for further evidentiary proceedings.   The ACLU expressed hope that the Obama administration would end Ramadan’s exclusion without further litigation.

It does not stop there.   One of Jaffer’s National Security Project staff attorneys, Denny LeBoeuf,  is in turn the Director of the ACLU’s notorious John Adams Project.   Because of this project, covert CIA agents’ lives are put in danger by the ACLU and other left-wing America-haters who have surreptitiously photographed the agents and have reportedly shared the photos with the attorneys for detained terrorist suspects as well as with the suspects themselves.  The Justice Department is currently investigating whether any laws might have been broken by these actions.

So it seems highly irregular, to say the least, for an attorney who is currently engaged in such highly sensitive litigation against the U.S. government to be feasting with the President of the United States and high-level administration officials, including Attorney General Holder, without any record of what they may have talked about.

Did Jaffer, for example, lobby President Obama and/or other government officials attending the Ramadan banquet to release more of the CIA documents, as he was hoping the administration would do?   Did Jaffer use the occasion of the Ramadan banquet to argue on behalf of Tariq Ramadan and try to persuade President Obama  to let him into the country? And did Jaffer try to persuade President Obama and/or Attorney General Holder to drop the Justice Department’s investigation of the John Adams Project?

Also attending the Obama Ramadan banquet was Dr. Ingrid Mattson, the president of the Islamic Society of North America  (ISNA).  ISNA, like CAIR, was named as an unindicted co-conspirator of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development.

The ISNA president and the radical ACLU litigator Jameel Jaffer must have had a lot to talk about at the Obama Ramadan banquet, since the ACLU had filed a request in Dallas federal court just two months earlier to have the ISNA organization removed from the list of unindicted co-conspirators in the Homeland Foundation case.

Did Jaffer and Dr. Mattson discuss their grievance with President Obama and/or other high level government officials when they had the opportunity at the White House banquet?

If the White House is as transparent and as ethical as it claims to be, it is time for the Obama administration to come clean. It should immediately disclose the details of all contacts involving ACLU litigants such as Jameel Jaffer, who are involved in pending cases against the U.S. government, and the President of the United States or senior members of his administration. If any deals have been cut, they must be made known at once and rescinded.

We’re known by the company we keep and now we know who our president is and what he represents.

Sounds like conspiracy talk to me. David Swindle is right. We don’t need this sort of extremist talk in our right wing Big Tent. It might make people not want to listen to us. What American in their sane mind would support terrorists? Plus it just looks like racist right winger talk. More attacks on Obama because he’s black. Yawn.

Please stop baiting and irritating me like this, Jonathan. It’s impolite toward your host. I have all the patience in the world for polite disagreement with my views. I grow weary of commenters that just want to poke at me like this.

Unfortunately, this sort of baiting is going to continue, both for yourself and for anyone else with the courage to stand up to the bullies of the left. Dealing with people like Jonathan will be a cross you will have to bear.

Take some comfort in the knowledge that you do not bear that cross alone.

It’s time to admit it and say it, the whole top tier in the White House are radical socialists.
It is only through this lens that all their actions start to make sense.

I do know one thing Bill O’rielly is right when he says that the ACLU is probably the most dangerous organization in this country I just wonder what took Bill so long to figure it out. I have been telling people that for years. I can only hope that there will be some justice dished out to the vile members of the John Adams Project one day for there treason. I have no hope that this administration will do anything but I pray the next will bring them to justice unless someone beats them to it.

What part of “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming America” did we not hear or understand? The number and variety of decisive steps that have been taken toward that fundamental transformation is nothing short of mind-boggling. Plunging the U. S. A. into unimaginable debt; setting up a parallel structure for asserting executive power through “coordinators” (aka “czars”) charged with coordinating the policies and programs of the executive branch agencies with the transformational agenda of The One without congressional endorsement or oversight, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. And behind it all, pulling strings, sits George Soros, seeing his dream of a Socialist America being realized.

Yes I sure do Fred, I also believe that Martial Law is not to far behind either…the Remnant of the body of Christ better start preparing for persecution in this (False Unity) United States.

Thank you for a very informative article. It’s impossible to keep up with the myriad ways Obama and his Marxist thugs are trying to destroy our country. One is tempted to not read the many articles on the internet and elsewhere documenting his systematic deconstruction of our republic, but we have to – it’s just so frustrating, because short of voting them out or going down to DC – only to be dismissed as a crazy racist – what is left? Anyway, will keep reading and keep fighting – thanks again for the information.
