Al-Qaeda Foiled, For Now

September 21, 2009

The arrests Saturday of 24-year-old Najibullah Zazi and his father Mohammed Zazi (in Denver, Colorado) and Ahmad Wais Afzali (in Flushing, New York) should serve as a reminder to all Americans that al-Qaeda still plots, still plans,  and still waits for its opportunity to inflict mass death on us again.

According to reports on the Sunday morning program Fox and Friends, the Zazis and Afzali (along with others not yet arrested) were part of an al-Qaeda terror cell that was planning a Madrid-style bombing of a New York City target, most likely the subway system, using hydrogen peroxide-based explosives of the type that is a favorite of Islamic terrorists the world over.

The younger Zazi, along with seven accomplices, attempted to rent a 26-foot U-Haul truck (intending to pack it with deadly bombs), but failed to do so when the rental agency manager became suspicious after being presented with expired credit cards and questionable ID.

Najibullah Zazi has admitted to the FBI that he received training in the use of weapons and explosives from al-Qaeda on his frequent visits to the tribal areas of Pakistan. At the time of his arrest, his confiscated laptop contained detailed instructions for the assembly of peroxide bombs, as well as cell phone video of New York’s Grand Central Terminal and other potential targets.

This is a big story that will only get bigger in the days to come. And yet you would be forgiven for not thinking so, if your only news sources were the so-called “mainstream media,” which are not pushing this story nearly as strongly as Fox News. The virtually irrelevant New York Times, for example, wrote a curious piece titled “Reasons Unclear for Terrorist Fears,” which almost dismisses as alarmist any increase in vigilance by the public, and portrays Najibullah Zazi, a self-professed al-Qaeda operative planning a terrorist attack, as a somewhat sympathetic character.

Don’t be duped.

The threat posed by Islamic terrorism is all to real, and constant vigilance is an absolute necessity.

The FBI has been interviewing dozens of possible accomplices and is working diligently around-the-clock to break the back of this terror cell. Attorney General Eric Holder is taking it seriously as well, announcing that the investigation into this latest plot has been expanded beyond New York City and Denver. It is a plot that will, in all likelihood, prove to be bigger than was first thought. The New York Times would be wise to start taking it more seriously and admitting that the “reasons” why people are afraid are not “unclear” at all.

I hope the FBI offerred Zazi and friends candy bars otherwise the ACLU will be in an uproar.

They must not have sought advice from ACORN on how to rent a truck under false pretenses and not get caught.

Bombing innocent people to further a cause in the most reprehensible act of cowardize we have ever endured and too many have enjoyed the luxury of sympathetic ideolists patronizing them.

They are serial killers and should be treated as such, not folk hereos.

If it were not for the incompetence of our enemies, this plot may well have succeeded. By attempting to use expired credit cards and fake ID to rent the truck, they all but guaranteed that their plan would fail.

Of course it will only be a matter of time before the common sense and vigilance of this rental manager is cast as “racism.” If the left gets its way, this manager will soon be guilty of a “hate crime” in refusing to pretend that terrorists are not terrorists by virtue of their swarthy skin and Arabic names.

The NYT’s is chicken when it comes to Islamofascists. As Bernie Goldberg pointed out at Restoration Weekend a couple of years ago (I’m paraphrasing), the NYT’s refused to publish the Danish cartoons of Mohammed and stated on their op ed pages it was because they refrained from religiously offensive images. The next day the NYT’s published and raving review of Olifi’s “art piece” of the Virgin Mary covered in elephant dung.

Thank goodness for an alert rental agent, and the idiocy of someone who keeps all of his secret “Destroy the world” plans on his laptop. IF it weren’t for the stupidity of the Al-queda agents, we’d have nothing to charge them on.

But, it may be for nothing, they can’t be waterboarded, they will get tried in a civilian court and might get away scot free, when the jury is too scared or dumb to vote in the correct fashion. You can be sure that the ACLU will take their case.

But Barry Obama – America’s Jesus of HopeyChange – has declared that the War on terror is OVER! Didn’t you hear? Muslims and the “religion of pieces” have been declared “okay” by America’s #1 Mohammad Fan, Barack Obama.

This country is becoming like a big round wheel of Swiss cheese. From the outside , it looks like a huge strong piece of cheese but inside it is full of holes .
Islam is digging inside one hole at the time ……until the whole piece will collapse

My neighbor is an active FBI agent and said that they found 20 backpacks in the apartment. Just how many people did they arrest??? My math skills must be lacking since it seems that the number of backpacks is greater than the number arrested.Hopefully, the ACLU will not intervene and authorities will find the remaining terrorists that were to have used the backpacks.

It is alarming to see what I wrote as fiction several years ago come true!

Sometimes fiction can reach people, particularly when it is something they don’t want to know about. To this end, I wrote a novel–now posted as a blog–about what may happen if we continue to ignore Islamic Radicalism:

I thought you or your readers might be interested:

Each day I post entries from 2012, as the Great Eurabian war leads to World War III.
