Whose Conspiracy?

September 28, 2009

Question: What’s the difference between the Clintons‘ “vast right wing conspiracy” and Joe McCarthy’s “conpiracy so immense”?  Actually, and despite a lot of liberal obfuscation on the subject, the conspiracy McCarthy was referring to was real. The Communist Party was a conspiratorial organization by any definition of the term and was run (and financed) by Moscow, America’s mortal enemy at the time. There is no disputing these facts. Hillary‘s conspiracy, on the other hand (and Bill‘s this weekend), are the Clintons’ inventions. Or rather invention — singular, since Bill’s remarks today are about the alleged conspiracy to which Hillary referred. That conspiracy was supposed to have fraudulently concocted Bill’s liason with Monica — the phrase was in fact a claim that Bill’s adulteries, with which Hillary was entirely familiar, were made up out of whole cloth by “the vast right wing conspiracy” in order to discredit her husband and defeat his progressive agendas. Hillary was lying both about the affair and about  right-wingers making it up. So Bill’s new lie — also a claim that the conspirators are out to thwart Obama’s progressive agendas — is just a doubling down to deflect attention from the disaster that Obama’s presidency is rapidly becoming. Funny that the witch-hunt that the Clintons are attempting to incite is unnoticed by the same liberals — uh, “progressives” — who have pretended all these years that the communist conspiracy never existed. (And just in case there are any trolls from the Village Voice lurking — this doesn’t mean I think McCarthy did no wrong.)

    Well put David…

Don’t you wish you could have been a fly on the wall in Hillary’s hotel room on the night that she realized that BHO had finally actually beaten her ?

At the time, the simple fact that she got beat actually made me happy….

    Now…. not so much….

It’s about you and other GOP waterboys who channel “stories” upward, link to each other, get it on Fox and propel it into the mainstream. There was a conspiracy to get Clinton out of office….just like there is one to get Obama out of office. It’s not a conspiracy to chart a more appealing course for America and thus woo voters, but instead it’s about lies, fear, and the lust for power. It is loose enough that “conspiracy” is a bit overstating it…but that is why Clinton’s saying this on-the-fly in an interview is remembered.

I’m not sure I remember the Clinton hearings or people being questioned about their connection to this “right wing conspiracy”…probably because it was nothing at all like McCarthism. How is Clinton trying to “incite a witch-hunt”? That makes no sense…no one is coming after you.

Here you are…doing what you do….in this case, making a stupid comparision and posting unflattering pictures of the Secretary of State. You are one of the main organs of the right wing babble machine with your “Discover the Network” bizarro world, Front Page Magazine, and new found Beck love. Your site may be small time, but it’s the overall network, links, and providing outlets for people like Dick Morris and Ben Johnson (and the whole cast of characters) that’s really the important part isn’t it David?

There are a small group of people who oppose Obama and would like to see him removed from office; you will even see some of their comments on these pages. You will also see they are confronted on every count and “marginalized” from the discussion because the majority of us don’t see evidence for the high crimes and misdemeanors the claim (although some of it is based in truth).

That said, there is a huge reason many of us want to keep Obama right where he is and it has to do with what SabbyWrt said in his/her response to you..

“Conservatives are not organized enough…God help you if they do manage to get organized! But some of us are are learning ….”

And we have NEVER had better inspiration than this sitting president…

No they aren’t. Look at Beck. Horowitz is giving him a big sloppy kiss and jumping in the boat with him. A majority of people that post on FPM believe in the wildest things about Obama and are very very serious. If you are reasonable person will concerns about our government, but you don’t think Obama is a manchurian candidate sent to destroy capitalism…then you are in a minority…here anyway.

Yes, very serious at making darn sure his policies fail.

We the people, have forced him to move to the center on one of his major policy decisions by no longer threatening to veto any bill that doesn’t contain the “public option” for his healthcare overhaul…he has further to move.

A terrific side effect of moving Obama to the center is an emboldened base of support for the GOP and well deserved scorn of the Leftist Democrats.

He has become a very effective + useful tool for conservatives and I thrilled every time he shows his face and opens his mouth…LOL

You know what group changed my mind the most? It was “Code Pink”. I researched them because I wanted to know who funded them and came across “Discover the Networks” and utilized this place and Horowitz as a spring board to work on my understanding of these types of groups. It has been an eye opening experience.

The sins that our nation did not address properly in the 1950s have returned to haunt us. The communists and socialists we allowed to highjack our national consciousness and the nation’s classrooms must be addressed.

We’d better get it right this time, and that means 1) re-directing the educational curricula and materials K-12 to support our national history, political and economic system, the elevation of the individuals who crafted the best in our nation’s history, and recasting the country as truly caring enough about oppression to address and change conditions that supported the prejudice and bigotry of by-gone ages. 2) Teaching the oppressive and corrupt history of socialism and communism as a one-year unit. 3) return the objective of teaching critical thinking to all children to the classroom, and 4) return the teaching of the values of responsible and compassionate behavior toward others to the classroom, and finally, reward and publicize the exceptional achievements over rewarding mediocrity.

    Dear Bubba,

First of all I do not accept that BHO, Pelosi, Reid and all the other liberal lawmakers want to make a better world for anyone. Nor do they have that right. Conservatives do not want this massive bloated government imposed on them. Obama will and already is a failure because what he was trying to sell was and is not his to sell. In order for him not to fail all of us would have to give up our individuality and our hard earned money. BHO is a populist not a statesman. He is a socialist plain and simple. The USA is not set up to be a socialist country nor does it compliment the American psyche or capitalism. I believe that we will have a health care plan crammed down our throats when the majority does not want it. If this happens it is a form of tyranny. Health care is just the tip of the iceberg to all of it. But it is the most glaring example right now.

I would like for you to name any inaccuracies that you have found in “Discover the Networks”. I am sure that is inconvenient for you to have this information on the net in full view for all to study and see. To bad. You see, I as a real liberal, someone who respects what that word means and knows my political history, accept that McCarthy acted like a heavy handed idiot. I don’t like the way he behaved and he was a conservative. But after reading “The Venona Files” and many other historical texts the man was right about the conspiracy. I have found that liberal progressives which is what ideology you seem to bow to can not and will not learn your own political history. That makes me a bit nervous because I fear that your ilk will repeat the mistakes. You expect us to “own” McCarthy and apologise adnaseum. I will do that as soon as you do the same for all of the progressive, socialist, communist and fascist ills that grew from your political great grand parents and all of the ills that came from the mistakes. Liberals treat this country like it is some kind of experiment and if their ideas don’t work out it was still a good idea just not done well enough. Kind of like fixing a patients electrolytes but the patient is still dead …. it just has pretty numbers.

What Bill Clinton was doing was trying to rally the troops by manufacturing a crisis ….. conspiracy is a bad thing doncha know. Democrats seem to always want a crisis. People are sick to death of crisis.

Come on Bubba, surprise me and show me the inaccuracies at “Discover the Networks”. As for anyone here carrying anyones water that is laughable. Most Conservatives can and do think all on their own. Conservatives are not organized enough to be a “vast right wing conspiracy”. God help you if they do manage to get organized! But some of us are are learning …. I actually made myself read “Rules For Radicals” and it was painful.

    • September 29, 2009 4:08 am

      Well said SabbyWrt,
It is amazing to me that anyone who sees the left doing its socialism in the shadows can possibly think it will be good for the country and as for big doggy Bill and stand by my career Hilary it is now a case of hear their words and start looking for the real truth, reminds me of the President.

Who expects you to “own” anything? You can barely figure out which side of the table you are on.

As for “Discover the Network”…it’s like a giant opinion article. It’s full of assertions and conclusions…it’s not an encyclopedia. When I can disprove an unfounded assertion, I will consider it a superpower….in the meantime, there isn’t much that I can do in that arena.

If you want to play fight in Horowitz’s little world…you will do it by yourself. I don’t want you to miss your appointment to sit in a lawn chair and fuss at the “young people” that happen by.

You made assertions that the folks here and David Horowitz were “carrying the water” for the GOP. Those are your thoughts not mine. You indicated that the information at “Discover the Networks” is nothing but an opinion and is not quiet true so I asked for you to provide to me an instance where it is not factual. You have failed to provide me with that information. Horowitz has provided me with information that I can cross check. So where is your info to refute “Horowitz little world”? Facts are stubborn things are they not? I am sure if you find facts to refute any of the evidence you can ask for FPM to correct the record.

BTW Bubba, I don’t have a “side” and I wasn’t aware I needed one. As far as my ideology if I do need a “side” or label I am a “classic liberal” which at this time makes me not fit into any political party. This is what I mean by not knowing history. It is important that people know where ideas come from so they do not repeat bad ones by blindly subscribing to ideology/label. I am on the side of The Constitution and will come down on that side every time.

Bill Safire, former speechwriter, columnist and author, died last week. His accomplishments were many but the one that rose above the heap was nearly extracting a “punch in the nose” from Bill Clinton for calling Hillary a congenital liar. Truth stinks. That Safire got under the “big dog’s” skin to elicit such a threat is noteworthy. A special category of “Oscar” should be created to honor Safire’s achievement, and awarded yearly to those achieving similar results from the Clintons or others of that icky ilk.

I was struck by the use of past tense in reference to communist efforts in the USA. Communism is alive and well here in the United States. In 9th grade I had a social studies teacher who said that our country would be “taken over from within” meaning our government, media, education, and courts, by Communism.
In my lifetime I’ve seen this effort gradually unfold. First, schools stopped teaching real U.S. and World History. Then, the Great Society put millions on the sure path to social welfare and dependency. Then Nixon took us off the gold standard and tied our worth to production (the GNP) (convenient for recent efforts by Obama to take over failing banks). Carter decimated the CIA through declassification and valuable CIA operatives were killed. Reagan helped put the country back on its feet economically and militarily. But, enter Clinton who deactivated and trashed approximately half of our military assets (the Cold War was over). In the meantime, George Soros, an avowed Communist, had pretty much single handedly devalued the British Pound before coming to the U.S. to devalue our currency with Obama’s help. Now, Communism in America attempts to incrementally move us toward government-controlled health care, government-controlled banking, government-controlled education. Wake up! Communism is present and working hard and quickly to make this a communist country. It is not past tense. It is present tense.

sovereignjim, I don’t think he will answer your question. I suspect the reasons are all of the following:

      1. He is really freakin busy. I don’t know how he manages all he does.

      2. He doesn’t want to get embroiled in a sideshow which can be used to smear him.

      3. He doesn’t want to alienate his fans. I suspect he got hammered pretty hard for accusing birthers of ODS. I personally thought it was a mistake to drum out his allies over what seems to me a trivial matter, but I’m not sitting in his chair.

I believe he knows something which he would share with us in private. He seems to have convinced Jamie Glazov.

some day it would be really nice if you would list McCarthy’s alledged sins.

No, you don’t need to compare them to the oppositions at the time.

While agreeing that McCarthy was after a real, serious infiltration of the US and its institutions, you continally refer to McCarthy as if he was a bad guy. I would really like to be able to understand your position on this issue.

    • September 29, 2009 1:03 pm

Horowitz has written about this before. Read the chapter “McCarthy’s Ghost” from “Destructive Generation.” I’m going to post a key excerpt from it today.

    • September 29, 2009 1:11 pm

David Swindle is going to post a more thorough answer. McCarthy was a demagogue attempting to address a real and very serious problem — the infiltration of the government by disloyal Americans with the connivance of the Democrats in the White House. Chambers told Roosevelt through AA Berle that Hiss was a spy in 1939. Roosevelt laughed and took Hiss to Yalta and to the founding of the UN in San Francisco. But McCarthy and his aides — Cohn and Schine — were reckless and helped to discredit the anti=Communist cause. Ron Radosh has written extensively about the specific sins from the perspective of someone who understands that the Communist threat was real.

It must be time to rethink the features of Renaissance, French Revolution, Science and Enlightenment that happened to release the opposition to the body of principles of our Founding Fathers and Judeo-Christian Heritage. Thus allow them to be turned on their head with a demand that God must live up to the standards of man. By giving authority to academic scholars, they are allowed to anoint, ignore or render unworthy. They had no business introducing social justice into the mix. Let’s go back to where the the deviation occurred and reestablish those principles by rethinking the Enlightenment, French Revolution, Science and Renaissance
