Like most of the political blogosphere NewsReal has covered the controversy surrounding the recent arrest of filmmaker Roman Polanski and the resulting reaction from the Hollywood Left. (See Joseph Klein’s take here, Kathy Shaidle’s reporting here, and Chris Yogerst’s initial contribution here.)

For the definitive take on the scandal, though, check out this two part video of Lionel Chetwynd and Roger L. Simon from Pajamas TV:

There are other criminals in this filthy case, they are the money hungry mother and her well trained daughter. But being entrapped does not forgive him for a terrible crime. The pervert was tricked into pleading guilty to a lesser charge. The deal was for the judge to get half a million for no jail time. But once Polanski pleaded guilty the price went up. He was threatened with 50 years if he did not come up with the extra money. Polanski would not give up all his assets and fled the country.

I love what these guys say, Chetwyn and Simon, but how they say it drives me nuts. They’re always talking over each other. Can’t the play nice in front of the camera? The rule is simple, when one is talking the other shuts up!

No, no, no I can not read your reply and let you blame the victim. What is wrong with you? Men/women do not have any kind of sex with teenagers or they go to jail it is just that simple. Polanski needs to shut up and serve his time. Anyone who supports him is saying that his behavior is okay. No. It. Is. Not.Ever.

I had heard the Holocaust defense too and could not wrap my mind around it either. I would have thought that if the Holocaust taught anything it would have been to live to a higher standard ….. that is the message that I get.

Brilliant of Joseph Klein to make the connection in a NewsReal column recently.

Would Polanski be would be willing to move past the part that Susan Atkins (a part of the Manson family who has recently died in prison) played in harming his wife and baby.

Let’s ask him. Let’s ask the Hollywood and European so-called elite. They are sullying an otherwise lovely concept – to be elite. That used to mean a mark above, select (as in this videos Higher Moral Standards…that would be truly elite). You have to qualify to be elite.

I think Joseph Klein’s question is just excellent. This comparison says it all, and I have not heard it elsewhere.

It has always been known that there was more to this crime than met the eye, but the fact of the matter is this; a grown man did terrible things to a child. Everything else is irrelevant. If someone wishes to prosecute the mother for placing her child in a situation where terrible things could happen to her…..I am for that also. Blaming the child is absolutely inexcusable…period!

Hollywood is filled with people who live in another moral universe. This has always been true. Those who are old movie buffs very often will look up information on the old stars….and what a shock! The moral chasm between the “stars” and the general population has always been wide. The only difference now is that the wideness of that chasm is obvious to the most casual observer.

As for the judge taking money…this is the first I have heard of that, but if it is true then he should be prosecuted also.

It’s nice to hear someone in Hollywood still have some morals. Like to see who names on that list.

Repeating from an eye witnesses. The accuser in the statutory rape case had the appearance and demeanor of a 20 year old. She was brought to Polanski for sex by her mother. Polanski and other people on the set who had seen her never concieved that she was teenager. Polanski was in a state of severe depression from the butchering of his beloved wife and nearly born child. He was very vulnerable. He was most probably the victim of extortion. He settle for a deal to limit the torment of a trial, while he was in this state. He fled when the LA judge rened of the deal after the plea. The vultures refuse to even consider this. They only want to feed on the flesh of this 76 year old. By the way, I am anti-Left, tend to be a coservative, but believe in Justice and Compassion. Equating the crime of a possible very questionable statutory rape of a 20 year old appearing female with the butchering of his wife and child, and friends is sick, and reflects some of the vulture mentality.

What about the flesh of that young girl/woman that Polanski fed on when she repeatedly told him NO to every type of penetration and yet he disregarded her personal requests and proceeded to gratify himself? This is a crime against all those victims who are similarly treated and so becomes Not really personal against this Polanski dude.

Mr. Stein, Read the court documents and her testimony. It is painful. It’s on Smoking Gun.
