Russia Is Laughing At Us

October 15, 2009

Bill O’Reilly used his “Talking Points” segment last night to show how the Obama administration’s attempts to “reset” America’s relationship with Russia is dangerously naive.  President Obama betrayed our allies in Eastern Europe by abandoning the missile defense shield planned for installation in Poland and the Czech Republic, in the hope of garnering good will in Russia.   He and Hillary Clinton nearly swooned when Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said a few days later that Russia could possibly consider sanctions against Iran sometime in the future.  Wow — some real hard bargaining there!

Vladimir Putin — Russia’s former spymaster and current prime minister who is still really in charge — subsequently shot down even that teaser:

We believe that we should treat this issue with caution, and there is no need to scare the Iranians.

Of course what Putin really meant was that there was no need to interrupt Russia’s highly profitable arms dealings with Iran, or its efforts to form a natural gas cartel with Iran that could strangle Europe.

While Putin was in China when he made these remarks, Hillary Clinton was visiting Moscow.   She received a similar message from Russia’s foreign minister regarding Russia’s present opposition to sanctions.  Yet, with her head in the sand,  she chose to ignore the reality of Russia’s intentions and remarked how much she appreciated Russia’s spirit of cooperation :

I feel very good about the so-called reset.   We did not ask for anything today.  We reviewed the situation and where it stood, which I think was the appropriate timing for what this process entails.

If that weren’t enough, Hillary apparently promised her hosts full access to inspect our nuclear facilities as part of an agreement in principle on a new strategic arms treaty.    Supposedly, the Russians will be as forthcoming about their own facilities.  Anyone who believes that also believes in the Tooth Fairy.

In keeping with Obama’s commitment to lead the way towards a nuclear-free world, the Russians would be permitted to visit nuclear sites in the United States to count missiles and warheads.  As Hillary explained:

We want to ensure that every question that the Russian military or Russian government asks is answered.

In other words, we have already made concrete concessions, and are planning to make more, with nothing of any real value to show for them in return.   So far the re-set button means that we are being set down a very dangerous path, while Russia and Iran are laughing all the way to the bank.

Mr. Klein, Do you think Hilary is as aligned with Obama as her statements make her out to be or is she simply feigning loyalty?

I think Hillary would be a bit more realpolitic if she were president and is being loyal to Obama, but at the end of the day I don’t see a huge difference between them.

This is enough to make you cry, scream, despair, I don’t know, you pick the reaction. The question raised by all this: Is Obama a fool or merely stupid? I vote for fool. I’m at the stage now where I can’t even listen to him speak, because all I hear is preening narcissism.

Great article, Mr. Klein, and bull’s-eye. I do believe, however, that Clinton is more puppet than representative of Obama and looks as though she is merely going through motions. And of course Russia is laughing at us, as is the rest of the world. Who can blame them? We are caving at every opportunity offered to us, a virtual babe-in-the-woods. Or maybe it is all part of the agenda, which is even more frightening.

Listen up…Hill and Slick Willie have a much deeper agenda than what you see on the surface. It is just absolutely unbelievable that an American president would give someone the authority to grant such an invitation to an “enemy” (and let’s face it…that what Russia is)to come and “count” our nuclear arsenal. What are these people thinking! Fellow Americans, we are in deep trouble.

Hillary is just walking the walk of the party line. She is incapable of having a strong stance in any form of foreign policy. She thinks that just because she has the position of SoS that people will cave to her will, well she is finding out that this in fact is not the case. people used to think that it was her that was pulling Bill’s strings, yet with what she’s shown the world recently, this can’t possibly be true. I think that Bill had more balls (no pun intended) than Hillary does. Fact of the matter is, the US is severely weakened in the world due to foreign relations, the financial arena, and of course growing discontent at home. The world knows this and those that are against us are using every bit of leverage they can due to it.

Russia and Iran have been bed partners for sometime now and this administration has just ignored all that. Just like they are ignoring the military buildup and nuclear aspirations of Hugo Chavez. Obama holds the world view that because he is the pres that the world will look at the US in a different light. This is false and will never so. Time to take of the rose colored glasses.

I agree that Hillary is on board as the token Clinton. Unfortunately for her, she is probably in a short lived position as evidenced by her seat at the back of the bus. I never viewed her as anything more than bluster without wisdom or commonsense. As we can see with a White House full of Ivy League degrees and little in the way of commonsense or widom. Obama’s inexperience with the realities of business and life place the U.S. is immenent danger. The world does not function like the community shakedown business. The world is run by thugs, the obvious and the sly,and real dangers that cannot be addressed by being “nice” to them. Obama unfortunately is surrounded by those that would destroy this country from within while at the same time ignoring the obvious real world dangers. Hillary is along for the ride in her attempt to establish a track record for her next run. Obama has no idea that in dealing with Putin, that he is playing with a viper that kills without regard. I am surprised that Hillary is still around considering her impotence and inexperience.

I think the world is laughing at him! And those are the people he is trying to appease. Thanks Obama for being the clown of the universe.

Hilliary is in her usual alternate reality bubble.

If Obama was in a den of snakes-he would be dead in 5 seconds. He thinks he can pet them.

Are we really back to the Carter administration here? The only positive hope is that a new “Ronald Regan” will come forward to succeed this administration also.
