David Frum Careens Off The Deep End

October 18, 2009

frum0701

In his worst post yet David Frum picks up some Andrew Sullivan foam (which is pretty much what Andrew produces since he became a celebrity of the left) and takes it to the next level of nasty. “Do Limbaugh and Beck Believe What They Say?” is the title of Andrew’s thoughtless little jape. At least Sullivan deploys the question as an unabashed instrument of derision which he doesn’t himself take seriously. We’ve all asked the question, which is our way of saying no one in his right mind could believe that. It’s what every liberal thinks (when they’re not thinking) of every conservative and vice versa. Does Michael Moore believe what he says? Does Al Gore? Since George Bush entered the White House liberals have ceased to think altogether about certain questions  — the election of 2000, the decision to go to war in Iraq, global warming — and have come to the conclusion that they are indeed the only sane people around. You will recognize here a classic symptom of psychosis. But in his current post Frum goes them one better and takes the question seriously, suggesting that if Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly were offered twice as much money and twice as many fans to say the opposite of what they’re saying now they would. This is a vulgar Marxism that is beyond insulting, and beyond stupid. Sadly, it’s just one more embarrassing pirouette in David’s ever less interesting dance away from the conservative cause.

David Frum will increasingly become more irrational. He is too firmly invested in the peculiar belief that so-called centrist Republicanism is the wave of the future. The reality is that Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck will dominate the American political landscape. Frum is on the outside looking in—and he will be forgotten before the elections of 2012. He may not even be considered a serious individual by 2010. Moreover, those who encouraged Frum to become the Pat Buchanan of the moderates won’t give a damn about him. The lucrative speaking engagements and writing opportunities will disappear.

Au contraire. The “liberals” will love him and reward him handsomely. You could view the little game he suggests of saying the opposite of what one’s saying to double one’s rewards as a projection.

The liberal elites look at David Frum as a more intellectual version of Levi Johnston. They will endure his presence only as long as he produces results—and not one moment longer. The non-secularist conservatives are bored by his antics. Frum no longer angers them. He is now only a modest irritant. The Leftists, however, want a lot more of return than that on their investment. Can David Frum still sell books? I suspect that he got a decent size advance the last time around. The next book will likely be treated with cold indifference.

Does FRUM believe what he is saying? That’s the real question.

What in Sam Hill was so “fascinating” about Sullivan’s hackneyed question? That is what poses as intellectual these days?

Frum has a lot of nerve turning his nose up at Pallin, Limbaugh and Beck, then considering Andrew Sullivan, who spent about a week trying to prove that Sarah Pallin’s baby was really her daughter’s child part of acceptable for polite company.

I have to ask or assert that the conjecture by Sullivan reference Palins baby qualifies him for the crack pot label. He is simply becoming noise.

Frum must think that he’s the next Amazing Kreskin, being able to determine what others really believe. He reads minds and knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. Someone please take Doctor Strange off the media roster and send him back to the comics page where he belongs.

David Frum doesn’t have a horse in this race. He is, after all, the less talented son of Canadian journalist Barbara Frum, who was actually capable of original thinking. Having a stake in outcomes has an enormous impact on one’s perspective. David’s thin claim to fame is having penned the “axis of evil” line for Dubya. That was a long, long time ago…

David Frum is someone who is looking for a soft landing outside of the conservative movement. Right now, he is laying the ground work for this move through his writings. Mr. Frum is addicted to influence, and if the Republican Party or conservatives cannot give him that, he will look elsewhere for it. We saw his type in David Brock some time ago.

If you’re a liberal/leftists and want to be loved by the media, don’t buck the party line. Only Republicans who disagree with party leadership are embraced as “maveracks.” Just ask Joe Lieberman.

How would Frum get the idea that a person would sell out his core beliefs for more money? Perhaps from looking in a mirror.

    David,
A correct insight into the sad human nature of the bloviating (“let me in”) mediocre. This is certainly a person that has taken his eye of the ball.

Frum is starving for some validation that he’s not a bafoon and he’ll get it anywhere he can find it…. He probably feels that his intellectual prowess has been overlooked and he needs to find a way, by selling himself out like a whore, to justify his position. He wants to be followed but does not want to really be a leader.. He wants to be lauded but is unwilling to stand up for what is observably right because in most cases when you do that you don’t get the attention you crave exactly when you want it.. He’s looking for it all instantaneous like… People who are true intellectuals most commonly do not necessarily give their ideas up for a cheap ego stroke. Most really true intellectuals never give up their ideas for anything remotely close to the ego much less a stroke. But Frum will give up the farm for a cheap ego stroke. He is lost in the emotion of trying to make so many things around him some kind of cheap and meaningless appendage of himself only he dreams the cheap and meaningless to be something of much greater value.. He’s in love with himself to the point of being used very easily…

The left knows this weakness and they use it… And they use it well..

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. He is reaping what he has sowed, KARMA, “palin and simple” like his followers. Don’t we all feel better?

You obviously don’t listen. No racism or sexism. Some jokes, yes. Witty put downs of buffoons, irrespective of race or gender? Yes. Liberals have absolutely no sense of humor. Hey, when the country is in the midst of being destroyed by an academic leftist president, with a bowling ball sized racial chip on his shoulder and almost no experience, hell yes people like Rush are pissed and pulling no punches. Obama and his supporters need to grow up, stop whining and make your case. So far, America is not buying what Obama is selling.

If someone’s getting told off, I think I missed it. That was one hell of a wild pitch. As Bob Ueker once understated, “Just a little outside.”

it’s fun to listen to all the pundits say all sorts of things. i used to read the news online every single day, now i keep up to date about 3 times a week, and i find everything even more confusing for americans.

Frum sounds more and more like those liberal trolls who know a bit of something about a conservative, and then construct a whole edifice of criticism based on this shallow understanding; staw man argumentation writ large. Amazing the way that sane, mainstream thought- America IS an exceptional country; marriage is between a man and a woman; America should be strong militarily and must defend against our enemies; etc. – is now considered almost radical. And Frum- like McCain, Graham, Snow, et al.- is party to calling millions of Americans who love and agree with Rush and his view of America radicals. Well, if this is radicalism, so be it.

Rush, Glenn, Sarah, Levin, Hannity, Horowitz and a few others get under the liberals skin because they are EFFECTIVE communicators, pure and simple. Yes, we have them too…

The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, (which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism, one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money (Marshall Faulk) that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well they work as a team and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last couple of days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so what is being stifled, it simply is not true, of course, you may not have a radio, so you might want to get one.

Rush Limbaugh: Transcript of radio broadcast from Oct. 14, 2008
    By Keith Vance
TRANSCRIPT OF RUSH LIMBAUGH ON HIS RADIO SHOW FROM OCT. 14, 2008

Editor’s note: This is a verbatim transcript of Limbaugh explaining how ACORN, Barack Obama, Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright are all involved in a radical leftwing conspiracy to teach black kids to hate America.

From the time of my birth 57 years ago to today, this country has grown and expanded, prosperity has opened its doors for more and more people around the world, not just people born in this country.

We know the stories of asians immigrating and running rings around people born in this country academically in California. We know all about the immigration, legal and illegal, to get into the country. We know that the standard of living has risen. We know that technological advancement is going along at light speed.

And yet, during this period of time, whether it be the last 57 years, or the last 20 years, it seems that the majority of the black population has remained angry, frustrated and behind – they’ve been left behind. They’re acting like they’ve been left behind, and of course we’ve heard that this is because of racism, natural systemic institutional racism in America. We’re unfair. That this country is just horrible and rotten.

Do you ever ask yourself how it is that people not even born here can come here and in a few short years begin prospering in school, they’re own business, and yet people who are born in this country somehow have been raised to hate it – to still think they’re back in the days of slavery.

I actually think, after studying all this ACORN stuff, and reading what Stanley Kurtz has written about this, I actually believe that what has taken place here, in addition to liberal Democrat legislation – such as the great society and the war on poverty, which a lot of people would now acknowledge really busted up the black family by the government taking the place of a husband and father – he’s free to roam around and bear no responsibility. The mother remained the mother, she got the financial assistance from this legislation from the federal government. The federal government became the father. The father didn’t have to hang around in order for the kids to be OK – depending on how you define OK.

And as you study more and more of this ACORN stuff you find that it has been part of an entire movement that has been going for two maybe three decades right under our noses. We thought that it was just liberal welfare policies and all that that kept blacks from progressing while other minorities grew and prospered but no. It is these wackos from Bill Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to other anti-american afro-centric black liberation theologists, working with ACORN, and Barack Obama is smack dab in the middle of it. They have been training young black kids to hate hate hate this country. And they trained their parents before that to hate hate hate this country. It was a movement. It was a Bill Ayers anti-capitalist anti-american educational movement. ACORN is how it was implemented right under our noses.

They’re doing far more folks than just cheating when it comes to elections and registration. They’re in deep in this mortgage crisis. ACORN and Obama, and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, the Democrat Party have their fingerprints the sub-prime mortgage crisis. The whole concept of affordable housing was people who can’t afford a mortgage are going to get one, because America is unfair.

It has been a movement. It has been a religion. And Obama and Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers were all up to their big ears in it.

    ——————————–
This is only one example, he real sounds like America’s Uniter, not a Divider, when it comes to race relations. Rush will not sue because he knows they will file a counter compliant and he will be deposed and like Nixon he knows that the tapes will sink him. For so many years he has spent his time on the radio mis-labeling and/ or mis-characterizing others. Poor little “self-centered” Rush, no out except creating the myth that everyone is out to get him. Sorry sucka you can only yourself to blame for your idiot comments. He finally had his judgment day where the NFL wins and tubby loses. Tee, hee…
