Anti-Wilders Activists do not like Speakers Who Challenge “the Way People Feel on this Campus”

October 20, 2009

The Freedom Center is sponsoring an event tonight at Temple University.

Dutch parliamentarian and Islam critic Geert Wilders will be addressing a college audience in the United States for the first time. David Horowitz has blogged previously here and here about attempts to shut down the speech.

An article about the controversy ran today in the Philadelphia Daily News:

Student Senate President Jeff Dempsey said he couldn’t support the decision to invite Wilders and hoped that the university would pull the plug on the program at the last minute.

“I’ve never been ashamed to be a Temple student,” Dempsey said, adding that university-sponsored dollars were not used to fund the event. “Our proud embrace of diversity and inclusion is tarnished by this man’s provocation of hate.”

Wilders was invited to speak by a new group on campus called Temple University Purpose.

Before the meeting, about a dozen students held signs with phrases including “Temple U. Does Not Condone Hate” and “Hate Speech [does not equal] Free Speech.”

Among the demonstrators was Megan Chialastri, vice president of All Sides, an organization that seeks to promote peace between Israel and Palestine.

“We feel student groups should not bring people on campus that jeopardize the safety, or just the way people feel on this campus,” she said.

[Emphasis Added]

Read those last nine words that Chialastri says carefully. That’s the real problem with Wilders. He presents views counter to the way a segment of students, faculty, and administrators feel.

In his speeches and his film Fitna Wilders presents facts and ideas (principally drawn from the Koran itself) which offend people’s feelings about a political-religious movement about which they know next to nothing. Feelings is the operative word here. How many who oppose Wilders and slander him as a man of hate have ideas about Islam and how many have feelings? How many have actually read the Koran and scholars like Robert Spencer and how many just have some fuzzy feelings about not wanting to be politically incorrect?

Well, we have to live based on what the facts demand, not on what feels good. It’s time for students to put their feelings aside and look at facts and ideas. And Wilders is just the man to advance this necessary task.

“Our proud embrace of diversity and inclusion” means that if someone disagrees with us, we will shut him up and make sure he does not get a chance to present his side. yup, that’s the lib left’s idea of diversity and inclusion .

I mean…do these people HEAR themselves?

This is why I do not think we will see a major terrorist attack on our soil in the near future. There is already a major terrorist attack on-going.

I’d like to channel one of my favorite political philosophers to illustrate a point….

    Fight your own war…

Oh, they are fighting… one brain at a time.

Why blow things up? Those are the crude tactics of those desperate souls willing to die for what they “believe” but, others are pulling the strings.

The 2008 election results have alerted the learned. The American public can be won over. Going toe-to-toe with the US Military is suicide. Much easier to tear it down brick by brick generation to generation. The best part is that it will destroy itself willingly, just plant your seeds in their young minds and let them grow. (fester)

Michael Savage interviewed Geert on his show monday..great interview. Did any of you catch that?

Kevroc has a point, why attack with a traditional terror strike when the plan is already working to destroy the US from within?

A huge proportion of academics is left Liberal whilst the converse is true of businessmen/women and entrepreneurs. So what do we expect? It was always thus. What do we hope? That when alumni grow up and mature they will see the error of the ways and learn the truth about society and politics. But will this be the change that does occur in sufficient numbers to make a difference?

Is anyone surprised by this? They would really hate me because I do not consider Islam a religion but a death cult. Golda Meir said it best “there will be peace when the Arabs or Palestinians love there children more than they hate Jews”.

These neglected products of drugs and divorce will soon be suiting up to join the People’s Health Maintenance Corps – they will target those who burden society with their unhealthy habits eg owning a gun, watching Foxnews etc. Their truncheons will rain down on their parents’ and grandparents’ generation as they bring hope and change and express their feelings…

The malignancy of the ‘”touchy-feelie”, politically correct crowd makes me want to declare all colleges/universities disaster zones, unfit for human habitation. What in the world has happened with clear thinking, wisdom and commonsense? This is the evidence of the dumbing down of America. We are in deep trouble folks. A second generation of intellectual morons and barbarians are being produced at our colleges.

I find it odd that diversity and inclusion inlcludes muslims screaming that Israel must die, women screaming that abortion must be free, and gays screaming that GLBT is fine, but when sane people want to present the other side, suddenly diversity and inclusion go the way of the dodo bird and people are suddenly filled with hate.

Instead of being a place of free debate and sharing of ideas, Colleges and Universities have become liberal bastions of hate and destruction.

Bomb Dempsey with emails. Let him know you think he is a leftist who like Soviet syle PC repression, but that he isn’t living in Cuba just yet. We still have a say in the matter. It’s inappopriate for this junior league punk to be passing judgement on a statesman like Wilders anyway.

Talk about an issue that needs tea parties and town hall protests: This is the one. The sorry takeover of the American education system by radical Marxists. It matters not one whit whether we “Defeat” Obama or not. A thousand Obamas are being created every day in America’s universities. They are the madrasas of the USA.

We’d better fix this problem now. Start calling and writing your congressmen at state and fed level and tell them of your outrage over this institutionalized leftism financed at taxpayer expense. We need to get this issue on the radar screen and get something going. Send the student president mentioned in this story an email and let him know you aren’t impressed by his version of “diversity.” Tell him that HE isn’t welcome onYOUR campus if he wants to be a self-appointed authoritarian ideologue. Tell him to quit hogging the microphone.

The ONLY way America is going to be saved is when we get serious about getting the left OUT of the schools. If I were running for president, this would be on top of my agenda. I think Congressional hearings need to be convened to highlight the repression, the discrimination and the out and out treason being fomented on many campuses. Despite what Keith Olbermann and Matthews say, the REAL nuts are not in the militias.

Follow whats going on with Geert Wilders, and other European issues as well. It’s a good measuring stick for whats cooking in America with this onslaught of leftism. The Brussels Journal is a great website for conservatism in Europe:
