United Nations Launches Investigation of Human Rights Abuses in the United States

October 24, 2009

_DSC3638regionalapproachRaquelRolnik

For those of you who have never even heard of a “Special Rapporteur,” you may be surprised to find out that one has been appointed by the United Nations (UN), under a special mandate from the UN Human Rights Council (the successor to the corrupt and anti-Israel UN Commission on Human Rights), to open a probe—for the first time ever— into human rights violations by the United States because of a perception that there isn’t enough affordable public housing in urban areas.

Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman reports that Raquel Rolnik, a Brazilian urban planner and the UN’s choice for the task, will be investigating issues of concern to the UN vis-à-vis the United States, including public housing, homelessness and foreclosures. As part of her fact-finding mission, she will visit New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Washington, a South Dakota Indian reservation, and Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She will then compile a report on her findings, which will be submitted to the UN General Assembly and the UN Human Rights Council in March.

The UN Human Rights Council believes that housing is a human right, and, because housing (especially “affordable housing”) is so tough to come by in places like New York City, there is a strong likelihood that the United States Government is guilty of gross human rights violations.

UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing Raquel Rolnik: If we take housing as a human right, you have to go back to the idea that housing is a social issue before and more priority than housing as a commodity, as a financial asset.

Now, having the UN send an investigator to the United States to report on “human rights violations” due to a perceived lack of housing availability—when it turns a blind eye to real human rights violations in places like Communist China, Sudan and Venezuela—should be enough to raise some eyebrows. But Rolnik’s impartiality is highly suspect, as she appears to have already made up her mind as to the existence of these “violations .”

Consider the following statements Rolnik made, before even beginning her “tour,” which have the same flavor as the Marxist rhetoric one is accustomed to hearing from Democracy Now!:

• [I am going to] hear the voices of those who are suffering on the ground.

•I am representing the right of adequate housing as a human right.

•Affordable housing here [in the United States] is not that affordable

•I see this mission as an opportunity to open a dialogue, to open a movement, towards the achievement and implementation of the right to adequate housing.

•We know very well that changes will come only if people organize.

The report will be bad. That is a foregone conclusion. How will the UN punish the United States? That remains to be seen. Who gave the UN the right to send a Special Rapporteur on this tour of American cities in the first place, since  UN Special Rapporteurs can only visit countries that have agreed to invite them?

The invitation came from the top.

Most of the U.S. troops are already in other countries. We already have troops from other countries on our own soil. You don’t have to go far to find them. At one U.S. Air Force Base and one U.S. Army Base, several years ago a questionaire was passed out to U.S. troops and one of the questions was, “If your commanders and commander in Chief said you had to use force and even kill an american citizen, would you follow orders?” or something to that effect. The replies were more than in the majority. A resounding “No!” and then we find most of our soldiers across the various ponds (oceans) and foreign troops on our soil. If a state of National emergency were to be declared, the foreign troops would be patrolling our streets (in U.S. garb? – I don’t know)…

Looks like Barry will open the door wide for the UN to come in and investigate anything they want to do. If I was in Barry’s place, like occupying the Oval Office, I would kick the UN out of the United States and give them 2 weeks notice to do so. then I would turn the UN building into a homeless housing area. Problem solved in part.
MaryAnn is correct…Obama has no idea what he has unleashed…no idea of just how far we (true Americans) will go to retain our freedoms. No idea!

Please folks, know I DO indeed agree with many of the comments here. This is a SAD time in which America is in and one that should get us all to think about what is next. Not just what the nut cases in the UN and such will DO to us, because I am very sure I will be locked up soon as I am a street preacher that will NOT quit until I am forced and then I shall continue where ever they put me.

I am talking about after they have done us in, burned our bodies up or stuck them in plastic coffins, 3 to a coffin or whatever those elitist demonized twisted little minds that wish to take over the world and turn what’s left of humanity into their personal slaves, have in mind.

When we all stand before God, what will happen then? Why would He allow any of us to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven? Is it because we have merely “believed in Jesus”? The devil believes and trembles and he will never have the opportunity.

Please know, the bible clearly tells us we must repent of our sin and turn from our sins, NOT that we can or will be perfect but we will NO longer live for sin. Trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, He is who gave His life in place of ours. Know that we are saved by grace alone and NOT of our works, though I tell you if you are saved for real and not like those in Mathew 7:21-23 you WILL have godly works. Read your bible, before they out law them just as they have done to what I preach on the streets with the “Hate Crimes Bill” they just passed.

I wonder if the U.N.’s newest czar, Raquel Rolnik, has looked at her own country, Brazil, lately? She is going to look into homelessness in the U.S.? She could stay home and investigate homelessness better than anywhere else in the world. If she needs guidance in Brazil, I could help. I have to laugh at the U.N. every time I read of what it is up to. It is as useless today as the day it was founded. I take that back: It is more useless today. There are more crooks and freeloaders in the U.N. building and the surrounding missions than there are even in Chicago. Well, maybe that is stretching it a little, but you know what I mean.

Affordable housing is not a basic american right. Our government has already tried to give away houses, and found out that it has only destroyed the economy.
Even if there is no affordable housing, people can always choose to move somewhere else and find an apartment, a back room, or even a homeless shelter to stay in.

I’ve never been to New York, but I even I’ve heard of rent controlled apartments, and the number of people that scour obits in search of a place to live.

So, the Useless Nations needs to get back to checking out real human rights abuses in places like Iran, Syria, Africa, Mexico, and South America.

It is the last gasp failing attempt to instill failed policies that have caused untold human suffering around the world, here in the US. The only place that has not yet fallen under the total dominance of the Hammer and Sicko philosophies of communist tyranny!

This grand revolution currently underway will eventually blowup in their faces because Americans are not going to accept as a whole, ANY kind of tyrant or tyrannical policies. The next elections coming in 2010 will be our opportunity to politically castrate the current fraudulent occupiers of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and Congress!

We must begin organizing grassroots 501c4’s to collect what money we have left over, after being robbed by the IRS, and begin promoting and electing the candidates who represent the values instilled by the founders! Candidates who are eager to return our great country to Federated Republic under law for which it stands.

I cannot agree more with the UN. We definitely need more public housing in the US. Everyone should have a decent place to live. The problem is that there is a deep, dark depression going on right now and money is a a bit tight right now. I just don’t know where we could get the money right now.

WAIT!!! I have just had an epiphany!!! First we could stop spending all those billions of dollar on foreign aid to countries that take our money and hate our guts. Next we could pull our troops out of Europe and let them defend themselves. All the millions that American troops spend in Europe could be spent in this country. It would have a two fold benefit: Reduce military spending on people that definitely hate our guts and help our economy by the troops coming home and spending money here. Do you think that we could get Europe to repay the US for all the money we spent rebuilding their economy under the Marshall Plan after WWII? Probably not, but we could try. It makes as much sense as what the UN is doing by investigating the US.

While there are many more things we could do to save money that could be applied toward public housing for needy people in this country, there is only one more I want to list. That would be to withdraw from membership in the United Nations and use the dues that we pay for the public housing. For what benefit that we get out of UN, it is a total waste of American tax dollars.

I believe if we did what I call for the money would be available to provide enough public housing for anyone who needed it. It would make the UN happy and they could go on to another inane project.

    God Bless America!!

    Crow Brother,
Unfortunately Obama and his crew know exactly what they are doing and have mapped a course to achieve it. Is is very difficult for most Americans to believe that an American president can be so devious and so devoted to destroying the Constitution. The U.N. report on the housing “crisis” has already been written and directed at targeting you and me with taxes and a loss of our rights, property and freedoms outlined in the Constitution through strict control, eliminating dissent and gatherings, control of banking and the food chain. The one world government desired by so many in power is full-steam ahead and has few obstacles in the way. Many Americans are basically asleep, non-involved or revelling in the perceived outcome that they will receive in a communist government. “The level playing field” that Obama spoke of only benefits those that do not contribute, and instead rely upon the government for the hand-outs and at-a-boys.The United Nations has long sought to be the gate keeper to a one world government by default. If the U.S. sovereingty can be eliminated, the rest of the world will fall in line. We are the obstacle, free-thinking and believers in free-will.I fear that because most U.S. troops being out of the country, predisposes us to a complete coup by Obama and crew with martial law declared to close off dissent. We are in real trouble and sinking faster. I fear that there will be no elections in 2010. Those in power cannot afford it and I do believe that they will take action to suspend the elections. I believe that this is the purpose of Obama’s “private civilian army that is as well organized, well funded and well armed”(Obama).

We had affordable housing in the US! But look what all the human trash that moved into them did with them! Turned them into slums and gangland!
Then the leftist louts that installed all these failed public cockroach housing units cried foul and tried to blame it all on the mean old white establishment, when in fact it was the public housing authorities run by the leftist crooks that caused all the problems! Many of these so called “Public Housing Authorities” where dens of corruption and infamy so heinous as to be on par with the Mafia!

We tore down enough public housing units turned into human cockroach
slums that would put every homeless person in any metro area in a home with plenty of units left over. But as you can see the results under the ‘cry me a river’ liberals never pan out to what they propose, never has and never will, just like the present health care lies they are spreading for the next great socialism experiment that will fail just as miserably as public housing did in the 80’s!

This from Spokane, Washington. It sounds like it’s straight from the UN and the Democratic Party.

This November, voters in the city of Spokane will vote on a Community Bill of Rights ballot measure. The measure, promoted by a community action group called “Envision Spokane,” seeks to amend the Spokane City Charter to either expand current entitlement programs or institute new ones.

The measure would codify rights for various entities. Also referred to as the “Spokane Community Bill of Rights,” the measure is a first of its kind in the United States. The aim is to use government authority to guarantee the legal right of every citizen to a sustainable and locally-based economy, affordable preventative medical care, affordable housing, and affordable and renewable energy. The bill would also assign legal rights to the natural environment and to neighborhoods so that communities could determine their own futures. The proposal would direct how workers would be paid, how many apprentices must be employed, and that union rights are mandatory in the workplace.

Every city has a bill of rights, it’s called the city charter. For cryin’ out loud, what jobs will there be to apprentice? Obviously not anything that needs education.

If the Federal Government would take a hands off approach to the economy, and would drop taxes for two years, there would be new jobs created and people hired. However, the federal government doesn’t care for anyone but the federal government.

Here’s my prediction: The ‘housing czar’ will determine how much square feet each American human being needs to live, and the government will seize all private property. When they do, they will give the existing homes to ‘homeless’ or poverty-line families who are the appropriate family size for the square footage. Larger homes will house more than one family, not related people, of course, because one of the objectives is to disperse family relationships and the support families give their members.

Just a guess, but I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it happened.

You are probably not far off the mark.

I receive a daily listing of the bills and resolutions the House of Representatives is going to consider. One thing that struck me is how many bills are an expansion of land controlled and owned by the federal government.

As the government gains control of more and more land, it gains control of the means of our survival.

The federal government under all administrations has consistently been purchasing property, as have organizations such as the Nature Conservancy, to make it off limits to humans.

It is easier to control people if they are not spread out. Thus the push to lure people to big cities from urban areas and the government and radical environmental organizations grabbing up land.

I picture the shabby public housing projects in the U.S. and in former Soviet Russia, where lots of people are jammed into one small space in high-rise buildings as our future if we aren’t dilligent in stopping Obama and his humanity-hating cohorts.

    Tommy,
Obama throughtout his campaign spoke of a private civilian police force. The hundreds of billions poured into Americorp and other subsets of ACORN,SEIU, AFL-CIO, black panthers, etc make up tens of millions without any effort. In order to enforce control of the population a few things need to happen. 1. gun and ammo control or elimination 2. the bulk force of the US troops not being stationed at home. 3. The willingness of those that support Obama to follow instructions that may run contrary to their personalities. Compliance with this comes from perks, money and power over others 4. Suspending elections 5. I believe the suspension of the Senate and Congress. He already has a shadow cabinet.I can not think of any reason why he would need a private police force unless it is for population dissent supression. Can you?

    • Joseph White permalink
      October 25, 2009 8:41 pm

Maybe for self-protection against the billions of people that will storm washington, if he suspends the consitution and closes down the senate? If he closes down the government and suspends the constitution, there will be a rebellion, like he’s never even imagined, and when it’s over, the tree of liberty will have been nourished.

I don’t think he can raise a private police force that’s big enough to run over every state, city, town, State Police, City Police, and Sheriff that’s out there.

If he tries to take Guns away, people will pretend to hand them over, while hiding three or four other weapons in a safe place.

That’s just, if he does it. I don’t think he’d be stupid enough to try it. If he did, the congress would immediately move to impeach him and he’d be escorted out of the country so fast that his head would spin.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard the first shots of the new revolution fired within the next few months… & it probably won’t be anything dramatic, It’s probably going to be something like an older patriotic & highly pissed off former military guy, who’ll wait for some lowlife like Murtha to leave is local office in his home state, and just blow him away…It should be interesting to see how the Pelosi’s, Franks, Dodds & Reids, & the rest of those slimy cockroaches, start wetting their pants and hiding under their desks when it does happen… & at the rate we’re going down hill right now, I doubt that it will take very long before it does…

The French may have had the right idea with their guillotine…

Well he may have the followers, but NONE of them are trained in any kind of combat operations tactics. You are right about the gun confiscation issues, that would have to occur first but I do not see it happening even if they passed a law tomorrow, gun owners would NOT obey same and would as you say stash the good stuff;-) Gun sales are brisk everywhere and rightly so, Americans should be very wary of the present skunks in the Congress and the WH.

Obomber and company’s implied promises to the welfare class are not going to come to fruition and when they don’t, at whom do who think the skunks are going to point the finger, that’s right YOU and ME! The price of ammo is climbing fast, get yours now!

Here’s a quote you can put on a bumper sticker “Leftists don’t hate guns, just citizen gun owners!”

Wow, aren’t you all the might patriots! Homophobic, anti-poor, anti-anything good and wholesome. *You* are the real traitors and homebrew terrorists…talking about a revolution with your guns, guns, guns. Poisoning any and all progressive programs to make Amerika a better nation. You know, once you start shooting and assassinating, you won’t get very far…you’ll all be rounded up and imprisoned for life. Or, better yet, exterminated.

We have a major, major problem with poverty…and the UN along with the rest of the world absoultely *should* address the matter. We also have an equally major problem with homophobia…which foments violence and terror.

Most of the comments I’ve read here thus far, are by ignorant louts in some sort of fantasy world about their guns, and some sort of belief that this is a fairer nation than others with a bad record of civil rights.

You’re kidding, right? The only reason we have a problem with poverty right now, is that the socialists in charge forced the banks to make loans that people couldn’t pay back, thus setting the housing bubble up to bust. When the housing bubble popped, and houses got foreclosed on, the government meddled again and passed TARP, which spent taxpayer money bailing out sallie and freddie. Then they passed TARP2, which bailed out the banks. Then TARP3, which bailed out the auto industry, and now they keep meddling by trying to pass the Unhealth bill, which will see them take over another 1/6th of the economy. To top that off, they won’t drop taxes so people can keep more of their money, they are going to let the Bush Tax plan die, then they’ll raise taxes on the top 10%, they’ve already told AIG and other execs what they can make, they bailed out wallstreet, but not the common guy on the street.
They’re planning on taxing your health insurance benifits, while cutting the services that you can get.

As for the UN getting involved, they should butt out and look to the third world countries where people don’t have enough food, or any shelter. Our problems are ours, and we don’t need their help.
We don’t have a problem with homophobia, just with the way they are trying to push it on kids that don’t need to know about it.

      ’nuff said.

        Hey Joe !

Where the hell did this ignorant jerk “ZEKE” come from ?

He sounds exactly like that twisted troll “rommel john” or whatever his name was….

Is this a new troll, or was this putz reincarnated from all of the dead trolls that David has banished from our little home here ?

The ONLY other possibility is that he’s one of Barry’s paid propaganda and smear operatives….

Look at how this fool spells America. That answers any questions in my mind as to his intelligence. And the reference to extermination? Wow, how profound.

Now we can understand better why there are United Nations troops from numerous countries beginning to roam the streets of our big cities. First there has to be a case against America in the international court and the United Nations. Then there can be action taken militarily by those foreign countries who want to pick over what’s left of the United States. Of course having a sworn enemy of America in the White House greatly speeds their progress.

Wow. This is an attempt to get the poor people ( which are growing in numbers due to financial crisis) to see the U.N. as their savior. Help the little people. This is a PR move for the white house and the U.N. Does anyone else see this? I’m dirt poor and I see it.
