NOW Believes Obama is Segregating Women

October 26, 2009

Obama_Advisors

Wasn’t last year supposed to be the year where women broke through the political glass ceiling?  Didn’t Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin show that sexism is dead in Washington?  Isn’t the age of Obama one in which all people are brought into equality?

New National Organization for Women (NOW) president Terry O’Neill says we may have all been fooled.  President Obama is not “leading the way for desegregating the work place”.

We at NewsReal Blog are often the ones criticizing Obama while others are praising him.  I think it is time for us to actually deflect some criticism of the President.  Today, ABC News (along with other cable news shows this week) did a report on Obama’a all-male athletic outings and how NOW’s O’Neill thinks it is a sign of segregation in the workplace.

See the video here.

Obama is actually catching flack for playing all-male games of basketball or golf!  What world do we live in that playing sports with only your gender is now considered sexist?  Here’s NOW president O’Neill’s take on it:

“Relationships get built in those more informal settings, and the relationships have a huge impact on the influence an individual has. We know what happens when we segregated whether it by race or whether it by gender — you end up with 1st class citizens and you end up with 2nd class citizens… We need to see the White House leading the way for desegregating the work places all around the country and it is troubling.”

What?  Are you serious?  So the President who has more female cabinet members than any predecessors is segregating women, because Kathleen Sebelius wasn’t asked to be in a basketball game?  What’s next – will NOW want Hillary invited to Obama’s next trip to the urinal if there happens to be another man in there?

Oh but NOW’s crazy talk didn’t end there.  O’Neill went on to say,

“It’s extremely important now especially for the president to have as many women as men in his closest circle of advisors. … If women had been at the heads of the companies on Wall Street instead of these masters of the universe then we might not be in the predicament that we’re in today.”

Excuse me?  I thought men and women were supposed to be equal.  I thought that was the goal of NOW – equality.  I guess the goal is to help us realize that women are far better than men at heading up things, so we wouldn’t be in the predicament we are in today.

There’s a lot to criticize with Obama’s presidency, his playing sports with groups of guys is not one of them.

“And where is NOW on Islamic misogyny, the biggest and most heinous affront to women the world over? NADA!”

That’s clearly because oppressed Muslim women didn’t go to Stanford or Harvard, and therefore don’t deserve the same level of freedom from oppression THEY deserve….it’s a cultural thing, really, and since our culture is SO decadent, who are WE to criticize theirs (there are Western feminists who’ve actually SAID that…)

You just have to remember that some women are more equal than others….

Whatever NOW is suggesting is ludicrous because he is surrounded by women professionally but I will say that if Obama dared socialize “off hours” with other women, Ms. Michelle would make him into a eunich. Besides, his propensity for men is much stronger than women.

There are a couple of videos on you tube that suggest Obama has done more than simply play basketball or golf with a couple of male friends.
Actually one of them had a press conference here in DC. Of course it wasn’t publicized

Of course. Obama is a misogynist. While attending a madrassa in Jakarta, Indonesia misogynism made up part of his Islamic curriculum (as misogyny comprises part of Islamic religious doctrine). So we can see that segregating women is part of being a Muslim and part of carrying out Islamic orthodoxy–which Obama is doing without owning up to it.

Oh yes, of course Obama tells is he is a Christian. But there is nothing in Islam that would prevent a Muslim from being able to publicly claim being a Christian (especially if doing so is for the purpose of deceiving us goofy “infidels”).

Don’t anyone hold your breath expecting Obama to either stop segregating women or fibbing to us that he is doing it and going to stop doing so (he won’t do either of these).

I am sitting here wondering if this is anything more than an easy shot at NOW.

I do not argue that NOW is about as feminist as Henry VIII.

However I do take offense at this bit of Paul Cooper’s post:

…Here’s NOW president O’Neill’s take on it:

Relationships get built in those more informal settings, and the relationships have a huge impact on the influence an individual has. We know what happens when we segregated whether it by race or whether it by gender — you end up with 1st class citizens and you end up with 2nd class citizens… ”

    What? Are you serious?

Yes Paul, on that point I do believe she was. : – )

What is in error about her statement above, especially the bold part? Unless you can show that other Presidents with female Cabinet Members went off on regular boys only outings it IS significant. And even if other POTUS’ did this too how does that make it ok?

Obama having several females in his cabinet means nothing to equality if he keeps them at arm’s length while he pals around with the guys. I am sorry Paul, but that bit made me see a cigar chomping business man in the Mad Men days tell a female employee how important her opinion was, return to his all male conversation and then make a joke at her expense once she leaves.

I know NOW ladies can be annoying but that is not reason enough to deny women their due as professionals.
