Fidel Castro’s Sister Drops a Bombshell

Samuel Johnson once remarked that seeing a dog walking badly using only its hind legs would not be surprising. What would be surprising, he said, was seeing a dog walking on its hind legs in the first place. Similarly, coming upon a poorly developed story on the Marxist network Democracy Now! having anything to say which would reflect unfavorably on a fellow Marxist would not be a surprise. The surprise would come with the realization that the story was run at all.

Here is a truly uninformative piece (posted in its entirety), as presented by Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman; which must have pained her to read, as it affects one of the left’s iconic figures-Fidel Castro of Cuba:

Amy Goodman: Fidel and Raul Castro’s sister has admitted she spied on her brothers for the CIA in the 1960s. Juanita Castro disclosed her role as a spy in a new memoir. Juanita initially hailed the Cuban revolution but later became disillusioned by the actions of her brothers.

Could it be? The sister of the dictatorial Castro brothers of Cuba, leaders of the Western Hemisphere’s Marxist paradise–where every day seems like it’s 1959–became “disillusioned by the actions of her brothers”?

What could the Castro brothers have possibly done to disillusion their sister so much (and so quickly), that she became an informant for the Central Intelligence Agency within two years of Fidel having seized power?

Juanita Castro: He [Fidel] betrayed the thousands of us who suffered and fought for the revolution that he had offered, one that was generous and just and would bring peace and democracy to Cuba, and which, as he himself had promised, would be as ‘Cuban as palm trees’.

Ms. Castro does mention a few specific incidents (which Goodman may find unpleasant to hear), which drove her to exile and made her an enemy of her brothers’ regime.

First off, he lied to his people.

Ms. Castro was shocked when her brother Fidel, who had previously denied publicly that he was a communist, went on to declare, after he had seized power, that “he was a Marxist-Leninist and that he would remain one for the rest of his life.”

Juanita Castro: Fidel’s radical change to communism was not out of political conviction, but simply out of the need to hold power, which is what has always been important to him. Without the Russians he would not have been able to carry on. He turned to the Soviet Union to perpetuate himself in power.

Then, after fully consolidating his power (seizing control of the press, private property, factories, etc.), what was Fidel Castro’s next step? Actually, he did what any true Marxist-Leninist would do: he began executing his political opponents. He became, as his sister describes him, the ultimate “despot.”

Fast-forward fifty years, and not much has changed in Cuba. The Castro Brothers still rule with an iron fist, and the country is an economic basket case.

Goodman’s report makes no mention of any of these unpleasant details.

No surprise there.

Sean Penn is currently on assignment to bag an interview with Fidel, presumably to garner details for a white paper on Cuban healthcare as a prototype for the U.S. News flashes from Cuba in August reported a shortage of toilet paper and islanders have resorted to creative means for TP substitutes. Sean Penn gives all Cubans just such an opportunity to wipe clean – shake his hand, please!

Amy Goodman would probably put in a good word for Pol Pot, if he were still around. If you want an orthodox Marxist, she is your gal.

“First off, he lied to his people.”

Now, wait a minute, that’s hardly news. What Marxist-Leninist leader doesn’t attempt to create a new unreality from reality? Liberation becomes enslavement, black becomes white, up becomes down and anything goes, just as long as it’s for the “revolution”. And if you don’t agree to go along with it you become the enemy against progressive socialism, a reactionary reprobate.

My first impression is that if Juanita did work for the CIA, how much was she paid? And was any of her information any use since Castro remained in power for far too long?

Could Glenn Beck get Fidel’s sister on his show–along with members of the Black Caucus who visited Fidel and fawned over him. I”d like to see that exchange. jd

What is never stated that Fidel Castro did not come from a poor backgound. His family were land owners with a large estate. It isn’t amazing that the rich and wealthly always want to oppresse the lower caste and tell them what to do. No one ever talks about the thousands of thousands of Cubans that were killed by Che, remeber he is not Cuban but Argentian, on Castro’s orders. The Progressives and radicals love murderers who are Communist.

A member of the Black Caucus, Laura Richardson, D- CA has some very questionable financial dealings since she was elected to the House. She claim that Cuba looked better than her district in Long Beach, CA, that is a outright lie. She defaulted on her house in Sacramento. Washington Mutual forclosed on the house and sold it to other party. After the sale she claimed that WaMu back out of a agreement not to forclose on her house. WAMU then proceeded to cancel the sale of the house to the buyer evenb thought he have already bought the house. No wonder we had the sub-prime failure and are looking at another one plus a total collapse of our ecomony with this heathcare and cap and trade bills.
It is the great depression all over again and the Democrats where in charge with both.

Does Amy Goodman have a hammer and sickle on her office door like so many college professors do? It’s good to be chic and in vogue. Apart form that subject,I had a Spanish professor during my college years in Springfield, Ma. He was trained as a lawyer in Cuba and had represented American companies there until the thugs forced him out. His tales of murder and deceit formed my early opinions regarding the Castro rebellion. 1968- was when I first met the professor. That was near the end of the era when Democrats were still patriots.
