House Minority Leader  Lawrence F Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, pictured standing, far  right, speaks while colleagues Rep. Barbara Lambert,  D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a  new budget. (AP) The gentleman sitting in the row in front of these two…  he’s on Facebook, and the Gentleman behind Hennessy is checking out the baseball scores. For some reason, these are some of the same elected folks who could not get the budget out by October 1.

This is a perfect illustration of just how incompetent/lazy/arrogant our representatives have become in many cases. I grew up in the state of CT, and I can tell you, after having attended a recent legislative hearing on education in the state (a close friend is a retired educator there) that these people are either clueless about the causes of the state’s current budget crisis or simply don’t care. They’re getting their salary and perks, and that’s evidently good enough for them.

Furthermore, as Michael Barone points out in his analysis of the state’s economy (in his latest edition of The Almanac of American Politics) the state has been committing economic suicide since the early 90’s, and continues to lose high-income residents and recent college graduates. The state’s business climate has been oppressive for almost two decades now, and its legislature seems intent on destroying its economy even further. As I still have family and friends there (the ones who haven’t left yet), this makes my blood boil.

Aw. They have little flags besides their computers. Isn’t that cute?

Seriously, how many sane people could stand sitting in a room listening to liberals drone on and on?

    Photoshopped?

I cannot believe it. Why do they all have computers to play with? Are they still addicted to ‘Space Invaders’? Has this photo been shown on Fox or any channel? Disgraceful, disgusting, Democrats.

If I had to listen to those windbags all day, I’d need something more distracting than a computer game. I’d probably openly read a book.

The thread should note that the picture was taken in August, not this past Monday, as the caption implies. To the person who asked whether this was photoshopped, no, Connecticut Democrats were playing Solitaire, watching baseball, and checking out Facebook during the budget debate.

    Kevroc,
No the shot was actually released by the chamber photographer. I live in California where it barely raised a blip on the screen. The most common comment made on the boob tube about it was “at least they are awake”. Now you know all about California and the insanity here. We are paying for anything and everything absurd. We pay girls not to get pregnant. We pay for women to breastfeed. We pay kids to show up at school. We pay parents to attend the parent-child conferences. We pay for kids to actually take the report cards home, get them signed and returned to the school. You get the picture. So the fact that they are doing nothing is viewed as nothing out of the ordinary. Pathetic is the best way of describing the Progressive nitwits here. This state is beyond broke and cannot get any company to move here due to the burden of taxes and regulations that drove them out to begin with. Like many in California we wonder how these people were elected since no one voted for them. Kind of makes you wonder, huh????California perfected corruption. And the beat goes on.

Peachey: I am sorry to correct you, but California did not invent corruption. It was imported from where Socialism had been alive and well, long before your beautiful state opened its doors, arms and legs for all the freeloaders — legal and illegal. Take a look at the U.K., for instance, and see what America will look like if we continue on the path we are on. Go online to The Daily Mail and read the headlines. If that does not scare you, you’re a better man than I am(where have I heard that?).
