MSNBC: Rush Limbaugh is “a Racist, Pill-Poppin’ Radio Guy”

October 30, 2009

When MSNBC gave Ed Schultz a nightly segment entitled “Psycho Talk,” it was apparently in obedience to the truth in advertising laws. On Thursday night, the low-rated host of “The Ed Show” used that segment — which is supposed to highlight over-the-top rhetoric from conservatives — to call Rush Limbaugh “a racist, pill-poppin’ radio guy.”

Schultz was outraged that Rep. Steve King, R-IA, had asked NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to apologize to Rush Limbaugh for denying Rush partial ownership of the St. Louis Rams while allowing Jennifer Lopez and Fergie to become co-owners of the Miami Dolphins after worse (read: actual) offenses. Schultz assaulted King and the talk show titan:

Once again, we have the Righties playing the fringe in jumping to the Drugster’s defense, straying from a very serious topic in a serious hearing to defend a racist, pill-poppin’ radio guy.  That’s Psycho Talk.

Big Ed then insulted Media Research Center and founder Brent Bozell, alleging that the media had nothing to apologize for in its reporting about Rush Limbaugh:

[F]ellow Psycho Talker “Bozo” Brent Bozell issued a statement today saying that the demand for an apology was quite “exactly what we have been calling on the media to do.” For what?

Schultz’s denial of reality and endless demonization of Bozell and Rush Limbaugh prove the depths of little Ed’s Genius Envy. Let’s examine….

Ed Schultz: biting wit, or wit that bites?

Bozell’s statement, which Ed quoted in part, states the apology “is exactly what we have been calling on the media to do since they first misrepresented the fictitious, racist quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh.” It then links to MRC’s “Tell the Truth” page where Ed, and Goodell, could educate themselves about the media’s lies against Limbaugh. (Goodell responded to King by saying, “I’m not an expert on his, on all of his quotes.” To say the least.) Although the quotations that the “mainstream” media reported and that sank Rush’s NFL bid turned out to be phony, Ed had no problem repeating the charge they contained.

The object of Ed's "Genius Envy."

Ed and MSNBC do not bristle at phony reporting; they excel at it. MSNBC smeared Sarah Palin with the erroneous story that she did not know Africa was a continent. Schultz lied that 9/12 protesters carried signs calling for Obama’s death, and falsely accused the Physicians Council for Responsible Reform of shady behavior in its campaign against socialized medicine. MSNBC’s has produced erroneous transcripts of “The Ed Show,” as well.

Ed’s hatred of Rush Limbaugh knows no limits. Schultz has called Rush “an ally of bin Laden.” He has said, “Rush Limbaugh wants a race war.” In a two-minute rant alone, Schultz called the most successful man in Ed’s chosen profession a “drug-ridden loser,” a “fat pig,” a “scumbag,” and a “complete coward,” who should “[g]o see the doctor and get some hearing.” (He then called Brent Bozell a “nerd.”) Character assassination and lies are typically directed by inferior talent against those whose abilities they envy.

I’ve detailed some of Ed’s other insanity here, here, here, here, here, herehere, here, and here. As I noted, Schultz began his career with at least $800,000 from Senate Democrats, so evidently the filth that comes from Ed’s mouth suits them just fine. Ed is their idea of mainstream America.

Incidentally, Ed Schultz’s idea of a great Congressman is Alan Grayson, of “K Street Whore” fame, of whom Schultz said: “He’s a great presenter.  We need more of that guy on the floor.”

Ultimately, both reflect the unyielding hatred, personal spite, and — yes — envy of the Left.

Jealousy, yes, but I think there’s more at work here. Schultz, and every other liberal commentator want so bad to be big time, and can’t figure out why they’re not cool and popular. I really don’t think they understand the business they’re in, so they end up like some modern day Piltdown Man staring at a rock and wondering why it won’t turn into a hammer.

Great way to put it “TAR AND FEATHERS” I just do not even know why Microsoft continues to do business with these morons for. They are so ridiculous. I just wonder what happens if Microsoft pulls the plug on this little experiment called MSNBC, or as I have seen it put MSPMS, they and there guets are so biased to the left, and there foolish ways. I just wonder when Microsoft wakes up, and smells what these fools got them into.

        Take care,

I’ve never watched the Ed show and thankful for it. However, I did call the NFL at 202-675-6000 concerning both Commissioner Goodell’s judgment and weak reply to Cong.S King. When calling about Goodell/Limbaugh your referred to their comment line. Try it, its fun. I put ESPN, MSNBC in file 13 years ago and now the same for the NFL.

He is neither racist nor a pill-popper. You, on the other hand, are a coward and loser. Get a life.

Ed Schulz is WHO? Just another MSNBC person who’s brain, if it were cotton, wouldn’t have enough to make a Q-tip for an ant.

Love your post here BJ. I think that you give them to much credit though. What do I mean. Enough cotton to make a Q-TIP for an ant. Well I think that the ant must be real small then. Because they are so small minded that even an ant does not care for them. God Bless you for writing your post. It is not long, or anything like that, but it right to the point, and for that I rate it five stars.

Ed is hate-filled wanna be hack. He’s desperately trying to get publicity. Like a true lib, he spews hate and then gets on his high horse. If they cancelled his show no one would notice.

Ed apparently does not understand the Lefty base that he caters to. Here in California, celebrities and democratic politicians cannot attend parties or democratic functions unless they are currently dope heads or recovering dope heads, going into recovery or coming out of recovery. It is a badge of honor for them and is touted loudly on the “media” here.It is considered honorable and noteworthy to be a “pill popper”, psychiatrically dependent, loudmouth. As to fat, Ed should look in the mirror. Yuk!

Prior to reading this article I’d never heard of Ed Schultz. If he’s of so little substance that the only way he can draw attention to himself is by schoolyard name-calling that wouldn’t do credit to a 5th grader, then there’s clearly nothing of insight or interest to be gained by remaining aware of him beyond the 30 seconds or so it will take for him to permanently drop off my mental radar screen.

Despite the embarrassing number of times it’s been demonstrated to them by their repeated failure to capture an audience, leftists never seem to grasp the fundamental cause of their dreary performance: simply enough, they have no sense of humor. And high-volume screed, liberally peppered with expletives and insults, is never going to disguise the fact, nor serve as an adequate substitute.
