Obama’s Broken Promises

October 31, 2009

On MSNBC‘s “Morning Joe” today, NBC’s Chuck Todd, “Meet the Press” host David Gregory, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island) discussed the question of whether the Obama administration is making good on its campaign promises.

Unsurprisingly, Sen. Sheldon answered in the affirmative, while Gregory and Todd were slightly more critical. “Has ‘yes we can,’ become ‘maybe’?” Gregory wondered aloud. Todd and host Joe Scarborough added that you get the impression that the White House has given a certain lead away in the health care debate.

Although Obama has yet to deliver on his promise to reform America’s health care system, and though I certainly agree that the health care debate is both interesting and important, “Morning Joe” could also have focused on other, perhaps  more important, subjects.

For instance, Britain’s Telegraph recently compiled a handy list of President Obama‘s top ten unfulfilled pledges. Among them are:

[1.] Mr. Obama said he would “not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.” But the “sunlight before signing” promise has already fallen by the wayside with Mr. Obama signing three major bills without public scrutiny.

[2.] Mr. Obama said he would end income tax for the elderly making less than $50,000 per year, thereby eliminating taxes for seven million of them. This has not been part of his economic stimulus bill, his first budget outline, or any legislation proposed by the White House.

[3.] Mr. Obama said that in 2009 and 2010 “existing businesses will receive a $3,000 refundable tax credit for each additional full-time employee hired.” Democrats on Capitol Hill opposed this and Mr. Obama has quietly abandoned the proposal, omitting it from his list of requirements for draft legislation.

Not only did Obama break promise after promise he made to Americans; he did the same with promises he made to Africans. When campaigning for the presidency, Obama said he would “boost money for AIDS funds, education program[s] and poverty-reduction.” But ten months after he took office, Africans are still waiting for the money and assistance the president pledged — while treatable diseases and starvation are killing large numbers of children on the continent.

Lastly, if Scarborough et al. wanted to focus on health care solely, they should have mentioned the fact that Obama promised to “negotiate health care reform in televised sessions broadcast on C-SPAN, the public service network.” Instead, his approach has been no different from that of his predecessors, holding talks behind closed doors at the White House and with Congress.

I pray to God that Obama breaks all of the rest of his promises so the transformation of America into a banana republic ruled by insane adolescent leftists never occurs.

Yes. He’s a liar and breaking one promise after another; but (unfortunately) he is keeping true to some of the statements he made in his campaign, statements which were basic to his beliefs and to what he planned to do.! VERY unfortunately, those people who voted for him didn’t catch on to the significance.

Broken promises are but a part of Obama’s M.O.(MOdus Operandi). These are but S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedure) in his “morals-less” agenda. The major part is his OVER-BEARING NEED to DECEIVE. For he is acutely aware of how the populace, even the uneducated and clueless, would react to his true agenda; the massive cultural/social/economic overhaul of our entire country for achievement of his drive for power and control. There are many who, according to polls, believe that Sarah Palin lacks the experience and gravitas to become President…Whereas she encompasses the patriotism and sincerity to become so, perhaps the most important of qualifications for the job; Obama is immeasureably behind her, lacking these qualifications as he has so well demonstrated, but even moreso far trailing Palin in experience and other qualifications. As our great Abraham Lincoln became known as “The Great Emancipator,” and Ronald Reagan as “The Great Communicator,” while his sycophants would apply the latter to Obama instead, rather he has already, short of a year in office, amply earned the appellation of “THE GREAT DECEIVER!”

AGREED Richard-M.O is right-he professes his faith, and supports abortion. Professes to uphold America’s Const. – Protect our Bill of Rights and is trying to force-feed us craddle to grave ideology, put us on the path to never-never-land-and runs our miltiary like he’s playing a board game….God Help Us, but God help us help ourselves and those who have been dumbed-down thru education, and childhood drugs to stand up and fight for our freedom. …..
I’m all for protecting God’s creation but the enviros are so whacked out, and single minded that they think they’re doing our future generations a favor by manipulating the rain forests etc. Go ahead and worship the trees if you want, but in reality a society is judged by how it treats their fellow man. Thru corruption in ours and world governments for money and control of oil, and manipulation by “do-gooders” who depend on “herbs” to connect with nature; our world is in big-time trouble. Contrary to what our government and world leaders want us to believe, we all need to keep our eye on Jerusalem….it’s our time-clock!

      P.S. Richard, wanna trade avatars?

The picture of that baby starving and sick is a good reason to bring up the promises the prez. made to Africa and hasn’t kept. Let your yes be yes and your no be no President O-
If you’re not going to do it, as you promise, don’t even say it….I would hate to be you when you meet our maker and the life of this child, and millions of others are on your head. Not to mention the military men and women being harmed and killed because you can’t commit until you know how it’s going to work out best for you-
I wouldn’t be so vocal about it right now if I hadn’t just finished reading an article about our government coming to an agreement with CR government. WHY when they owe us approx.26 million $ , would he tell them that it’s ok, don’t pay us back, just save some squirrels and monkeys! Why didn’t he take that money and put it towards where we need it most here in America, or give it to the Africans!
Please, someone wake me up when his term is over!-

The United States government has come to an agreement with the Costa Rican government to cancel the debt that Costa Rica owes the United States in a deal that will see Costa Rica put more money towards protecting more of their own tropical rainforests.
The value owed to the United States is believed to be in the region of $26 million from which a similar amount of money will be used to invest in protection of Costa Rica’s lush rainforest instead of paying back the debt owed. This will not only help conserve the jungles, but will also help to look after the diminishing numbers of jaguars, squirrel monkeys and scarlet macaws.

As part of the deal, the United States will also be investing $12.6 million dollars to the cause, as well as two big environmentalist groups also offering their support. Conservation International and the Nature Conservancy will both be contributing $1.26 million each. The deal will last for approximately the next 15 years.

The affected areas in Costa Rica are the Osa Peninsula, Tortuguero, La Amistad, Maquenque, Rincón de la Vieja and the Nicoya Peninsula, officials said.

Costa Rica has been known for its deforestation in the past, however recent initiatives in the past decade has seen a reverse in these action with many rainforests being re-planted.
