From the Pen of David Horowitz: November 1, 2009

While Pascal was an agnostic of the intellect, he was a believer of the heart. Pascal recognized that his condition was hopeless and that only a divinity could heal his mortal sickness and make him whole. Because science afforded no answers to his questions, he trusted in the God of Abraham to provide what no ordinary mortal can. Pascal was a realist of faith. He drew a sharp line between the sacred and the profane, respecting the gulf that separates this world from the next. Therefore, he did not presume to achieve his own salvation in this world, or anyone else’s. Not so the redeemers. They cannot live with themselves or the fault in creation, and therefore are at war with both. Because they are miserable themselves they cannot abide the happiness of others. To escape their suffering they seek Judgment on all, the rectification that will take them home. If they do not believe in a God, they summon others to act as gods. If they believe in God, they do not trust His justice but arrange their own. In either case, the consequence of their passion is the same catastrophe. This is because the devil they hate is in themselves and their sword of vengeance is wielded by inhabitants of the very hell they wish to escape.

There is no redemption in this life. Generation after generation, we transmit our faults and pass on our sins. From parents to children, we create the world in our own image. And no power can stop us. Every life is an injustice. And no one can fix it. We are born and we die. If there is no God to rescue us, we are nothing.

The End of Time

It is the problem of trying to find the infinite in the finite, or the spiritual in the material. These efforts have left many humbled, bitter, or delusional. Only the first category of being humbled is sane and reasonable. The others become dangerous to themselves or others as their frustrations increase.

Wonderful passage. David has described their existential fury. If you kill enough people, you can have heaven on earth.

This has GOT to be one of the most brilliant, insightful analyses that I have ever encountered, of what lies behind the snarling hatred of the godless left who take it upon themselves to be the “redeemers” of creation.
“They cannot live with themselves or the fault in creation, and therefore are at war with both. Because they are miserable themselves they cannot abide the happiness of others. To escape their suffering they seek Judgment on all …”
The suffering and misery of the godless is the constant FEAR they experience as they reject the only Power that can redeem them from the imperfect nature they (and all of us) are born with. This fear turns to a “sword of vengeance” against those of us who have fled to Jesus for the forgiveness and cleansing that takes away that horrible foreboding of the coming Judgment. If His death is rejected as a way to redemption, then someones else’s death is going to have to do the job. Ours, maybe?
THANK YOU for a wonderful “Ah-ha!” moment. I always learn a lot from you, but this one really took the cake!

The philosophy of Ayn Rand is atheistic and holds that life is an end in itself and is good and glorious. Rand’s philosophy, called “Objectivism,” gives solid philosophical, moral sanction to individual rights, property rights, and capitalism. Her philosophy provides tons of intellectual ammunition to combat Marxism and every form of collectivism.

I agree with David’s comments in this sense: the Marxists/collectivists hold what Rand called the “Malevolent-universe principle.” They can’t stand reality as it is. Like Hobbes, they hold that life is brutal, nasty, and short, and that humans need a dictator to keep order and make life bearable. Freedom is inimical to them, as it is to religious dogmatists.

I worshiped Ayn Rand in my younger years, and still agree (more than ever!) with her views on “The Boys in Washington” and their Statist, collectivist approach to strangling and subduing a society.
I subscribed for years to the “Objectivist” magazine —- UNTIL Ms. Rand and her young protege Nathaniel Brandon began to use that magazine as a forum to attack each other. He accused her of sexual advances and then of reprisals when he rejected these advances. Her defensive counterattacks became more and more irrational. Ms. Rand began to unravel, month by painful month, before our very eyes. She ended an emotionally broken and mentally unhinged woman. Her identification with her fictional sexual goddess Dagny Taggart (Atlas Shrugged) and the atheistic view that “life is an end in itself and is good and glorious” did not serve Ms. Rand well IN REAL LIFE.

In an open thread last week I listed some of my criticisms of Any Rand the writer. To summarize: I think she was at best a mediocre writer, nowhere near great. To further that criticism, one of the principal problems with Ayn Rand’s fiction is that she writes no children into her stories, this even though her tableau is society at large. The question is why? The answer, I feel, is that the objectivist philosophies she espoused would unravel in the presence of, gasp, dare I write it–love.

Anyone who has ever loved a child, especially a “problem” child, knows better than I that objectivity and objectivist philosophies go straight out the window. How many times have parents gone back to or taken back the recalcitrant child in the hope of renewal and reconciliation? How much money has been spent on rehab programs, private schools, and anorexia nervosa clinics in the hope of a return to normalcy? Ayn Rand’s objectivism would dictate that the child be pitched out into the world to fend for himself, and some parents eventually get to that point, to be sure. But before they do, these parents exhaust every other possible option. Objectivism would dictate that not one penny be spent on such children, yet how many parents have spent their last thousands on yet another rehab program?

In hindsight even the dullest wit amongst those reading this post would proclaim such expenditure a waste. Yet when a parent is asked to write just such a check, he or she does not have that view, so most times the check gets written in the hope that it is the last check that will be necessary. Yes, I know it makes no sense, but neither does parental love. But readers in need of proof that objectivist philosophy is no way to live life are referred to Ayn Rand’s antics with regard to her protégé Nathaniel Brandon. Not much objectivity there, I think.

If you study the bible thoroughly you’ll find there has been a conflict going on at least since man’s creation!

    What do I mean?

    God’s goal was explained in
Genusis. 1- 26. And God said , Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
    27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
    28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful , and multiply , and replenish the earth, and subdue it : and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

That goal hasn’t changed the conflict has been how to accomplish it!

Let me point out a couple key points

    Let us! In our image!

Who are the us and our!

These are clearly plural not singular!

I have been a contractor so I will explain with construction terminology!

The Architect designs the building, draws up blue prints, and oversees it construction!
However He very rarely does any of the physical labor Himself does He?
He hires a General contractor who hires subcontractor’s each with there own specialized skills to accomplish their trade!

The General contractor rarely does the actual work either but organises and oversees the subs, materials, suppliers, inspections, etc.

SO who really built the building?

It depends on the context of the who asking, if you ask the buyer He will tell you the Architect or the General.
But I have never had some one rattle off all those involved if they even have any idea who they all are!

Thus we say we were made in the image of GOD by GOD!

But in reality we were made by God ( Architect) By His son JESUS ( General) through His subs (angels, Holy spirit).

Here began the conflict because making men in their image has been going on for 6,000 years at least this time through!

As it said replenish (as in again) not Plenish (as in first time) (where did Cain go to to get a wife the Land of NOD inhabited by others not of Adams Line!
All of which died as did all there decedents in the flood of Noah so are irrelevant to us who are all of the line of ADAM.

    Back to my point!
They conflict is how do we make man in God’s image!
It is clear from scripture and even common opinion that Satan’s approach became one of tempting men and then exacting severe and immediate punishment for any transgressors!
While Jesus’s approach has been to persuade men if necessary very sternly but allowing men to do what they began in the Garden of Eden!

Eat from the tree of Good and Evil!

Allow men to choose by allowing them to believe if they wish that they are free to do as they wish as long as their fellow Men don’t hold them accountable!
It’s like hunting for Wolves, Coyotes or any other predator if you want to get a good shot at them use the meek, and helpless for bait!

This emboldens those who by nature are self centered and predatory and brings them out into the open to be exposed for who they are!

For those who see this life as all that matters it seems cruel, and unjust!
But for those who see this life for what it is!
A training ground and a test to build a multitude who share God’s values, Conviction’s and believe in His methods of achieving those goals it is the only way!
Why is it the only way?
Because He didn’t say let us build Robots programmed to repeat what ever we tell them and do exactly what we say with out any ability to question it did He?

Why would He want that anyway?

Do you want that from those you love?
Or do you want them to understand you, Believe in who you are and respect and love you because of who you are and what you stand for?

SO here we are almost at the end of this phase of the project and what do we see coming?

Those who want to control every aspect of every ones lives.
Because they don’t believe in them or think they are responsible enough to be free to choose their own path.
They must be DRAGGED INTO IT FOR THEIR OWN GOOD as Chris Mathews, or Oberman or one of those liberal commentators said!

So who’s image have they been made into?

The God of Abraham indeed is the answer to all of this world’s problems.
Abraham was given the promise in covenant that blessing would come through his offspring or seed. “Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring; it does not say ‘And to offsprings’, as of many; but it says, ‘And to your offspring’, that is, to one person, who is Christ.”
Paul the Apostle, who wrote these words, had spent many years endeavoring to persuade his people from the Law of Moses and from the prophets, that Jesus Christ, the Son of David, was indeed the Messiah. He, as God, became man, by taking the nature of man unto His Divinity. Joseph, although also of the lineage of David, was not his father as Mary, also of a different line of descent, was his mother. Salvation has come in an act of salvation through the Person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Can we not find the mention of the Son and of the Holy Spirit in the Old Covenant? We think of these – “His Name shall be Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace” and “And he will come to Zion as Redeemer, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, says Yhwh. And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Yhwh, my spirit that is upon you (Messiah), and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your children (believers in Christ, born again by the Spirit of God) or out of the mouths of your children’s children, says Yhwh, from now on and forever.”
As the Apostle wrote, the words are as such – The word is near you; on your lips and in your heart’ that is, the word of faith that we proclaim; because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved”.

Few will be reading Dan Brown 50 years from now, but you are right, it also has to do with actually seeing man, not as a sinful broken being, but as a heroic figure. Ayn Rand empowers, Dan Brown entertains.

If there is no God to rescue us, we are nothing.

Speak for yourself. Rush Limbo said something similar at the beginning of one of his books (something to the effect of “without God, life has no meaning”). Talk about WATB crying in the widlerness. I’d rather be a trailblazer charting my own course than follow any one of the many convoluted “roadmaps” set forth through supposed “revealed knowledge.”

      Thanks for proving my point!

As I’ve said God has purposefully placed a Vail if you will between Himself and men to give plausible deniability to those who don’t want to believe in the principles He lives by!

Of coarse He doesn’t need men to spread His message!
But as it says in Genesis when He did come down onto mount Sinai and try to speak with His people face to face they could not bear it!

Why because they where unwilling to take an honest look at them selves and unwilling to bear the guilt and shame of who they were!

SO if you wanted to give men freedom to chose Good or Evil and really wanted to see which one they wanted.
Would you stand over their shoulder and watch them or try and maintain your distance in stealth mode?

Wouldn’t you want them to believe they were not being watched?

Wouldn’t using men to represent you work rather well for that task?

Especially since people have such little regard for other men especially religious men right?

But I know you all are so full of wisdom and men are so righteous and wise and intelligent we are creating such a utopia aren’t we?

Such love, Harmony, justice, and everything good, our society is doing so much better now that we have freed ourselves from the chains of religion isn’t it GREAT?

      YES I’M MOCKING YOU!

I have been preparing my family for what’s coming for over 20 yrs. and this is the prime example of why we will not fight and kill to save America!

Because it is God who is first allowing us to reap what we’ve sown but is also beginning to bring judgment on us in waves and waiting to see if we will repent!
But we won’t and as it says in 2 Thessalonians 2-
      * 8.
      * And then shall that Wicked be revealed , whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

      * 9.
      * Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

      * 10.
      * And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish ; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved .

      * 11.
      * And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

      * 12.
      * That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

SO when your America is divided and Obama declares marshal law and locks down the major cities to keep as many as possible inside like in katrina!
Takes control of the food and other resources and uses them to disarm and coerse you into His New World Order!

Or Civil war breaks out and He calls up His Civilian security force and the UN and you have UN peace keepers in your ass!

And those who are still alive are eating each other to survive remember men are the answer to every problem!

You can all set around burning ruble and talk intelligent and try to impress each other with your vocabulary and the latest book review!

AS for me and My House we will be serving God some where in the wilderness!

Creepy Kenneth. Oh, and yes, I do believe our society is doing so much better now that we have freed ourselves from the chains of religion. When the Western World was under a Christian theology, we called it the dark ages. Even the word “Medieval” has negative connotations.
