Sour grapes: Media Matters still flogging dead “Beck boycott” story

November 5, 2009

Glenn-Beck-Shhh2

Credit where credit is due: as of 10 AM ET today at least, Media Matters has refrained from making jokes about the emergency appendectomy that’s temporarily forced Glenn Beck off the airwaves. (Keeping with the spirit of Beck’s show, his producer, Stu, has no such qualms…)

However, the George Soros Steno Pool insists on running a daily post called “So who’s still advertising on Beck?”

As I’ve explained before, cable tv makes its money through viewer subscriptions — you know, your cable bill. Ads are gravy.

It’s pretty sad that is someone’s actual job at Media Matters to watch Glenn Beck’s 5PM ET show on Fox News and count the sponsors.

But even sadder is the fact that through either ignorance or stubbornness, Media Matters (and the left in general) is bitterly clinging to 1960s era tactics which clearly aren’t working. (Clue #1: Beck is still on the air.)

It’s hard to take Media Matters seriously as a “progressive media watchdog” when they apparently don’t understand how modern media functions.

I don’t think MM cares how modern media works. These people are utopians. They’re uninterested in how the world actually works. They’re more interested in how the world SHOULD work.

I just want to openly express my concerns for Glenn and am glad that he is recovering. Later, perhaps, under government health care, they certainly would have made him wait in line until……….

That really tells us all we have to know about Media Matters, doesn’t it? It’s pathetic.

@Jack: I think that the main difference between the left and the right is that conservatives generally do not feel the need to punish someone for disagreeing with them.

@Chris: good point… and that’s good news for us!

My wife punished me for dinner last night. Said it was the lousest place I ever took her well so much for the weekly food adventure experience. It’s back to Chili’s and O’Charlies.

Can’t you feel the fear? Media Matters is getting desperate. Less dupes by the day as people read the swill. People are catching on. We have woken up to the Swine Flu epidemic. Only it turned out not to be a virus, but our own Politicians that where the real disease. Now their pimping the Media out for power.
To bad there is now a citizens media that will not stop exposing the poseurs in MM or Government.
Without as Kathy points out. The leaky tactics of the sixties.
