From the Pen of David Horowitz: November 16, 2009

November 16, 2009

Republicans are often surprised when Democrats refer to them as “Nazis” and “fascists,” the way Representative John Lewis did on the floor of the House during the Medicare debate. Or when they accuse Republicans of taking food out of the mouths of children. When attacked, Republicans become defensive. They worry about whether it was something they said (or perhaps did) to elicit such suspicion and abuse. Republicans think, “If only we were more careful,… If only we presented ourselves better.”

It’s fine for Republicans to put on their best face in public. It’s important for persuading those in the middle who are not ideological and whose votes decide elections. But for the Democrat hardcore who are politically left nothing Republicans can do will make them stop thinking of Republicans as racists and lynchers, or wanting them politically dead.

If you doubt this, look at what Democrats did to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. When he was nominated to a seat on the Court, Thomas had been an upstanding citizen and civil servant for twenty years. He had risen from circumstances of great adversity without a single blemish on his public record. But this meant nothing to the Democrats. They went straight for his jugular.

They employed the pretext that, in a private conversation ten years before, he had allegedly used improper language to a Yale civil rights lawyer. They said this was an outrage against a helpless female who was unable to speak up for herself! They said that Thomas had abused his position and power as her employer. They said he had committed a crime against all women. They called for his head in the name of all women. They were unable to defeat his nomination, but they tarnished his reputation and neutralized him as a public force.

A few years later, Bill Clinton had actual sex with a White House employee. This was not a Yale attorney with a portfolio in civil rights law, but a confused intern of college age. It was revealed that Clinton had also groped a widow, demanded a sexual favor from a state employee and forced himself on a campaign worker. Unlike Thomas, who never attacked the character of his accuser, Clinton and his agents set out to destroy the reputations of each of his female victims when they came forward to speak about their abuse. He even went so far as to lie in a court of law to accomplish this.

But when confronted with Clinton’s sexual harassment, the same pack of feminists, liberals and progressives who had attempted to lynch Thomas, said: “It’s OK.” “He’s just a man.” “Boys will be boys.” They did more than give Clinton a pass. They sprang to his defense. Congressional Democrats who preened themselves on being the social conscience of the nation were willing to go to the wall keep a guilty male in power. They said: “It’s only sex.”

When the political chips were down, the Democrats’ principles didn’t matter. What mattered was that Clinton was one of them, and Clarence Thomas was not. And because he was not, they had to taint and destroy him.

How to Beat the Democrats and Other Subversive Ideas

Every time I think about the Lewinski Affair, it irritates and aggravates me to the core. Because I remember.

I remember all the lies, the political posturing, the sycophantic media. It was the beginning of the Rise of the Modern Democrat (leftist).

I don’t think the Republicans know how to fight back. They seem terrible at it. As for the Left, whenever the issue if illegal immigration comes up, The Left is out to get anyone who stands against them on this. Meanwhile, Human Traffickers are bringing in slaves. (Yes, actual slaves) ALso, workers from Mexico have been exploited for their labor so that we have that to deal with along with the fact that we are now a slave holding nation AGAIN!

In Rwanda, there was no effort on the part of the US to even denounce the slaughter. I remember seeing the State Dept spokeswoman on TV practically contort herself in trying not to call it genocide. When Undersecretary M Albright was questioned about this, she seemd so taken aback that she couldn’t even mutter anything intelligible. It was something like “wha? ah I ah no I ah…”.

But on this matter brought to us by Mr Horowitz, the Left isn’t very principled. They don’t care. They seek to slander good people because they don’t have any worthy argument to back up what they believe in and because they hate those who they disagree with. Resist them anyway.

Though Leftists partisans justify and rationalize their frequently frightening malice and vicious hatred of political opponents by pretending to the higher moral ground, one cannot help wondering whether at least in some cases the malice comes first and the excuses for it later. The improvers and benefactors of humanity and the proponents of social justice seldom need to examine themselves and their motives for anything besides their surface altruism. In a supposedly sophisticated, suspicious and even cynical age such willingness to presume perfect purity of heart is itself surprising. Are we actually to take at face value the professions of those up in arms to change society and construct a new order that their sole concerns are for truth and justice and the Good as such? Do we want to believe that the sometimes demonic but always ferocious energies applied to radical political projects derive simply and only from a disinterested and impersonal love of justice? Can we make ourselves deny the possibility, indeed the likelihood of deeper, darker, less sublime and laudable impulses? Anyone willing to see can easily observe a vast amount of hatred brought nearly to the boil in the fulminations of many ideologues. The rage of such people seems sometimes inexhaustible, like that of Ahab towards the White Whale. Are they really enraged about what they think and claim – or is their rage itself perhaps the original and inciting thing?

Once again you are the “Eye Of The Tiger” so on the money is
your depiction of the miserable and angry left. They are the
group that hates everything Patriotic, loathes those who believe
in God and will defame any who oppose them. They are the
Anti-America party. All citizens who want change,no matter
what your affiliation may be,must rise up and be heard now,
we must take our Country back from those who are tearing
it down. The Obama group is a disaster that we can change.
    LIBERTY,AND JUSTICE,FOR ALL”…remember this!.

The problem lies with the republicans. They have forgotten HOW to lead. A leader makes a decision. One decision. Then sticks to be what is best overall. By trying to please the democrats with bi-partisanship , (who have no interest in being partners with the republicans) they flip flop their way to failures.
And whats worse, they take democrats advice! example… The BIG TENT theory. Where all the republicans work together and share power and advice… What a fiasco! Everyone cannot lead! The democrats set up the republicans and they fell for hook line and sinker.

    Lead dammit! Don’t be led!

“I don’t think the Republicans know how to fight back.”

I think you’re right, sad as it is. Frankly, I’m not all that interested in what motivates the Left, unless such understanding can be shown to lead directly to their ruin. Right now, I’m interested in whatever works to slow, stop, and ultimately reverse their radical agenda. We need to turn the tables on them, embrace the same Alinsky-ite tactics, fight fire with fire. It won’t take a great deal of thought. Look at what Obama and his cohort have accomplished with little to no thought at all. This is a war of ideologies. Whoever screams the loudest, wins. Republicans don’t know how.

“I don’t think the Republicans know how to fight back.”
I do 😉 More republicans should go into chat-room forums and learn to debate. I, however, have grown up near these monsters my whole life.
All of that GARBAGE that the earth is positive, and put good energy out into the earth…when you get angry, they say ‘OH! You are such an angry person’ (in that hypnotic voice) I tell them, straight up:
STOP TALKING LIKE THAT, IT IS FAKE. Usually, these monsters crumble when you tell them they sound like soft, passive robots.

There’s no real way to avoid a smear by debating it or insisting over and over that it isn’t true. Which is why smears work and force your ideological enemy into wasting time and resources just getting back to zero in the political discussion.

The equivalent 1950s smear of “Communist” was brought to heel mainly by media ridicule. The right continues to be smeared by these generic taunts because they’ve allowed themselves to be excluded from the media culture. That’s not going to change until some libertarian/conservative money men risk some resources on establishing the equivalent of the Washington Times or Fox news in the movie, TV and entertainment world.

When someone yelling “racist” becomes uncool the tactic will end.

Have you noticed that when one is not Christ centered, one may believe, say, and do anything? The Left are hollow people. They’ve filled their void with a personal empowering ideology. Acting on this, explains their hatred of those who oppose them. All of the “isms” of the socialist spectrum recognize the primary enemy is individual freedom. Therefore, they relentlessly attack Christianity, traditional American Culture, and judeo-christian morality. Nothing is beyond them in their goal to destroy the unique greatness of America in order to replace it with their fantastic utopian socialist paradise.

Name calling? These people understand that eventually they must kill us in order to accomplish their dream which they think will validate their hollow Leftist filled inner self. Wake up Republicans and help us classical liberals (modern conservatives).

‘Have you noticed that when one is not Christ centered, one may believe, say, and do anything?’
I agree. America is suppose to be a Christian nation, yes, Judao Laws, but most of these people are very satanic, driven by evil, so they hate G-d and anything that is good, and right.
I have ALWAYS loved this Christian nation, nativity scenes, Easter day, etc..never bothered me, prayer in schools when I was young, etc.. I dont believe that G-d EVER promised a rose garden, like these idiots think, and actually believe..

As a further example on the weakness of the republican leadership. They allow themselves to be manipulated by the press who is manipulated by the democratic party. As in.. I may be showing my age but I remember when Reagan was elected the map of the country showed the republicans as the BLUE states and the democrats as the RED. (Somewhat appropriate in todays terms.Socialism and communism being the ‘in’ thing for white house czars.)

Yet somehow the democrats got that turned around. Were the republicans afraid that such a little detail would be unseemly? The ‘leadership’ should have fought that small psychological victory tooth and nail! Why? Because if you give the left an inch… they take a whole foot.. then all ten yards… then tie a noose and hang you from the nearest tree, then attack you for harming the environment by damaging the tree with your bloated carcass! And the republicans then say, “I know you are but what am I?” As if some lame response will make things right. You can still defend yourself and still be tough guys. You don’t have to scream or yell. Have Ann Coultler give you some lessons. I’ve never heard her yell at the left and yet they get destroyed every time she speaks.

We’re at war with the left. It’s just that simple. Our country and our very way of life is at stake!

So do we act like Patton and roll right over them or are we sending an army of Chamberlains to fight for us?

    Marx-ist Leftist Motto

“Those are my principles. If you don’t like them, I have others.”

    Groucho Marx

  13. November 16, 2009 12:39 pm

Too many (most?) conservatives fail to understand that the political left is a faith-based secular RELIGION. It is not open to debate – just drink the kool-aid holy water and do what you’re told. It’s blasphemy to question or challenge its dogmas or any of its clergy (all liberals). To do so is to call down the full wrath of its earthly gods (eg; the ACLU, NYT, Social “Science” Prof’s, People for the American Way, The Southern Poverty Law Center, HolyWood, MSNBC etc, etc). And never forget its bedrock principle is that “The Ends Justify the Means” (Lenin?). And toward those oppressive, punitive and censorious ends ANYTHING goes: lies, smears, election fraud, career assasinations, ad hominum attacks among other elements are all SOP for these arrogant and ignorant malefactors.

I had to laugh when I saw the phrase “taking food out of the mouths of children” because it is so personal to me. My wife, a liberal (me…ahhh, not so much) left me years ago after emptying the bank acounts and moving to Canada. Now, we are talking millions here. A few months later she called to complain that I wasn’t sending child support and I said “Well you took all the money.” Her response, “You are going to take the food off your childrens’ table?” She had just purchased two Bugattis. Just like a liberal. Always a victim. But always right!

Like all liberals she was capable of doing anything. In your case, theft was not enough. She managed to be legalistic, illogical, and victimized with a single demand. May God be with you the rest of your life. You do understand that she’ll not be driving Bugatties in eternity.

David you surprise me! I would think that someone of your experience would have recognized by now that the practice of Liberalism is the avoidance of accountability. There is now clearer example than how the left and the right responded to the Clinton and Gingrich infidelity. Clinton was excused and Newt was expelled.
Look at any political or social disagreement and in every case the conservative lines up with ” you are capable and accountable and the Liberal position is you are incapable and unaccountable.

Of course, the same leftists David Horowitz describes USED TO want a mere slap on the wrist for Roman Polanski’s rape of a 13-year-old girl. Not anymore (most of them). Why? Because some members of the Roman Catholic clergy got busted for similar behavior!

I just got the December edition of First Things, with a searing article (not available online, at least yet) “How Pedophilia Lost its Cool.” In addition to the point I just mentioned, author Mary Eberstadt makes a particularly damning citation of earlier “pedophilia chic” among the enlightned Left: a 1989 article in The Nation by a “novelist who said he had lately penned an ‘entertainment about a San Francisco private eye who wandered into the business of transporting Haitian boys to boy-lovers all over the world.'”

How about an alternative? What if a group of big name truth seeking fiscal conservatives formed a third party? What if they offered a platform of common sense, seeking only the good and actually did what they said? I believe they would have a runaway success in 2012. dream.

Usually when the Fascist thing comes up all you have to do is get a definition settled on and then point out the obvious. Who stands for the prerequisites of Fascism such as centralisation of power, the soveignty of the group over the individual, etc.? Point out that Fascism was invented by socialist murderers in Italy and perfected by socialist gangsters in Germany. You have to get that definition settled on first though because if you don’t it will morph all over the place.
