“What Boobs are in Charge of the Health of my Boobs?”

November 20, 2009

NewsReal's Paul Cooper and his mother.

“This is how rationing begins. This is the little toe in the edge of the water.  This is when you start getting a bureaucrat between you and your physician. This is what we have warned about.” -Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.)

Breast exams are now recommended only for women over fifty! Does the Left still think we were wrong to worry about health care rationing?  It has already begun, even before the government gets their hands on our health care.  And as a son of a woman who is dying from stage IV breast cancer I am furious.

This week a government panel of doctors (none of whom were oncologists by the way) came out with new recommendations for women and mammograms. They now recommend that women no longer get breast exams until they are 50, and then get them every two years instead of every year. These new recommendations are at odds with the American Cancer Society which continues to tell women (as it has for 20 years) to get a mammogram starting at 40 and to do it every year.

These new guidelines were issued by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force.  Their recommendations are used by some insurance companies and Medicare to determine what they will cover. Did you miss that? Medicare uses this group to say what they will cover. So without a doubt the new government run health care will use these ideas to ration health care.

Even CNN, which isn’t known for calling out this administration covered this one with suspicion.  Here’s Wolf Blitzer’s Situation Room with Wolf and Jack Cafferty:

This advisory panel actually is recommending that women get screened less, because the cost isn’t worth the relatively low number of women whose lives are saved by earlier and more frequent mammograms.  What is the value of those lives?  As Cafferty quotes one doctors:

“My patients tell me they can live with a little anxiety and distress, but they can’t live with a little cancer.”

Even Wolf Blizter points out that the Obama administration is not totally rejecting these suggestions.

“I was surprised, because in the interview I just did with Kathleen Sebellius, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, she did not flatly reject these recommendations from the Task Force.  She said, you know what, check with your doctor.”

CNN gives us some viewer response, including one from a lady named Andrea who wrote,

“What boobs are in charge of the health of my boobs?”

At 63 years old my mom found out she had stage IV breast cancer.  Our family learned the cancer had spread all throughout her body, and for the last year and a half cancer has eaten away her bones. She went through radiation and chemotherapy to no avail. Now she lives on her back in a bed in a skilled nursing facility. She is like that 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our family has watched her deteriorate, and every day we have with her is a gift from God. However, I don’t want to see women in their 40s and 50s going through what my mom and our family is going through.

Government-run health care is obviously going to lead to rationing care, more disease, and higher death rates. These are a bunch of boobs indeed.

No one is opposed to evidence based medical practice/decision making but everyone should be terrified of “evidence” use to impose policy decisions.
Climate science is a good example of (skewed) evidence used to impose public policy decisions.

As a woman perhaps she is concerned about her own health. This would naturally take precedence over any other political considerations.

This is just the beginning to eliminate the costs of preventative medicine costs. As a nurse with 36 years experience I know that preventative medicine is more costly that interventional medicine alone. When the screening and preventative medicine coverages
are removed the patient will be diagnosed at a later stage of disease/illness and will have
a greater chance of as less than successful or fatal outcome. When the diagnosis outcome criteria of the Federal panel is put into place, they will determine the limit and stages that will receive care. This is a death panel by any other name. If your illness is perceived as having a less than successful outcome, you will not receive care. They will pass you on to hospice care in preparation for your demise. The transplants for even productive citizens over the age of 40 will end. It will all boil down to age-productivity-remaining taxpaying years-education and success ratios to be established by this “panel” It is interesting to note that no oncologists were on the panels that released new breast and cervical screening suggestions. While the Amer College of Gyn’s released the cervical/PAP suggestions, they did
so through the AMA. More is to come folks, so I suggest that all of you break out the exercise
equipment, take your vitamins, lose weight and stop smoking. Healthcare just became your
    enemy.

Again the only thing that should be discussed now in health care reform is Healthcare Bill 101 for Lunatics. Harry Reid and Witch should be discussing it. Its let the elite lunatics wait til their 50; then when half of them die off-then we will discuss how to ration their healthcare only-not the american people. Their medicine right in their face.

True, its interesting how none of them are oncologists but they got this death advice. These lunatics hate you, america, christians and freedom. Are ruthless, wicked, snakes and dogs. ALL they are about is their self serving power-they are like black holes in that the more you give these idiots the more they want. They are depraved and can’t be satisfied!!! Want to take, take, take, grab, grab, grab.

If this healthcare of death passes-america has never seen what the word screwed means until then. The freaks managed to dump our county into hell.

It is wonderfull to see Obamaos team of idiots digging themselves into there own demise. Americans will be left with no other alternative than to remove this insult to the common good and history will remember them as a complete failure to the needs of the people.
Shame will be your reward Obamao.
