Sarah Palin: Rockstar

November 22, 2009

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is much more than a politician: she’s a rockstar. Her memoirs, “Going Rogue: An American Life,” sold 300,000 copies on the first day of its release. It tops every best seller’s list in the country. Her book tour is already an astounding success, with tens of thousands of supporters waiting for her in the freezing cold and / or rain for hours.

Her popularity reminds me of Barack Obama’s popularity last year. Millions were inspired by him and supported his candidacy because of the power of his personality and his charisma. The same can be said for Palin now. The enthusiasm she invokes in her supporters is not caused by her political views as much as by her independent, inspiring and charismatic character. And by her folksy behavior, of course.

That being said, her appearances on several talk shows to promote her book, show that she has learned a lot in the last year. Where she was often accused of lacking the knowledge required to be (vice) president and the ability to answer difficult questions without stuttering,  she is now perfectly comfortable dealing with critical reporters and their questions.

Watch Palin’s appearances on “Good Morning America” with Barbara Walters:

And on “The O’Reilly Factor” with Bill O’Reilly:

Palin is a rockstar and a politician – and one with a whole lot of potential, that much is clear.

The people of this country are shell shocked by 2008 banking crisis, plummeting employment, and young college graduates trying to find a future with pay! Sarah Palin offers an alternative view with connections to a world of values that are the foundation of our citizens. The handout money machine may have hit a wall as most everyone knows if we are printing money, then it is the taxes on blood, sweat and tears that will pay for it.

Palin 2012. She is awesome. Equal to or better than Reagan. PALIN.

Next time, vote for an American.

You can see why the left fears Palin in these interviews, her instinct are to direct response, she is clear spoken, and best of all her humour is self-deprecating. Compare that to the empty suit in the Oval Office, Obama is all about ego and self-regard and his speech instinctively tends to obfuscation. Obama has to obfuscate, if for no other reason than he hates America. More interesting is that the Palin we see today is responsible for her own message, where the Palin of yesteryear had to run everything past that loser Steve Schmidt. Anyone who hires this speed-bump to manage a future national campaign deserves to have the wheels rattle of the bus.

I have forgotten the name of the political publicist who first raised the issue of close-crop camera shots, but in the Walters’s interview the technique is used extensively. What the publicist said was ABC learned from its 60 Minutes programming that when a respondent to a question is close cropped the audience tends to distrust the response. Walters & Co., although superficially seeming sympathetic to Palin, are actually working overtime to undermine her with television technique. This Walters interview is yet another example of Lame Stream Media bias, but what makes this type of technique far worse than simple overt bias is its insidious nature, as only tuned-in insiders see it and know what is going on. The Lame Stream Media and people such as Barbara Walters are vermin!

Newsweek has established the analogy to “The Sound of Music”. Mother superior did ask the question “How do you solve a problem like Maria.” However, Maria evolved to fix a dysfunctional family and save it from evil. Newsweek may have unwittingly written America’s FlashForward.

Palin named her book appropriately! The definition of rogue: “An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.”

Tom, you figured her out! And we thought she was flying under your radar. You’re so smart – you caught her out! Dang! What strategy can she use now that you have exposed her entire game plan? Pesky geniuses…

Another Liberal hypocrisy. Leftists for years have engaged in the redefinition of the English language to suit their agenda. The current ‘political’ definition of Rogue is ‘someone who bucks their party and thinks outside the box’. Can’t always have it your way Lefty Lewie!

An example, I’m a liberal, in the classic sense. I despise big government and believe people have the God given right to pursue their dreams without interference, as long as they don’t trample the God given rights of others.

We can’t send a girl scout to Washington DC! The Senators and Repersentatives would steal her cookies. Every citizen in this land knows Senators, Representatives, and Presidents don’t spend millions of dollars to get elected for just a salary that would take 20 years to equal their campaign spending. They all become selfless humanitarians once they get into Washington DC.

What Sarah Palin has shown so far is that she is “different.” Not much more, really, and I say that liking her personality, freshness and eagerness, rare these days in those seeking high office. That she was a state governor is a plus, but not right of passage to what we think is the most important job in the world. That she also is a woman should not even be a factor, despite our predilection for firsts. Many are already expressing dissatisfaction with the current President, but care is needed if we seek alternatives. Mrs Palin is smarter now, coy to tease and use media speculation to test the temperature of the voters. Her path of “doing what is best for America outside party structures,” will test her commitment, time enough for us to determine if she is the right one, after all.

I hate to burst your bubbles but if the Republicans trot Sarah Palin out for 2012 then you will most likely get another 4 years of Barack Obama! Mrs. Palin is not nearly as popular as most of you wish to believe.

Personally, I like Sarah Palin but I would never vote for her. Being a mayor in a small town in Alaska and resigning her position as Governor hardly leads me to believe she would be good for the office of president.

It looks like I’ll be voting for a 3rd party….. again!

David, I want to hear more from this lady. It’s amazing how she set those Oil Company’s on their heels. How she took down those corrupt career politicians. Why had know one before her done that. I don’t feel that we have given her a fair shake in the lower 48. I just want to know more of that side of Sarah Palin. The media has put her in this box and created this unfair image of her.

I don’t know if she’s ready to be President at this point, but in my mind she has better experience than a community organizer. Obama has had many years of coaching and indoctrination by radicals who detest this country. They have trained him well. He was blessed with intelligence and oratorical skills. But he is a Marxist, he hates America, he hates the Constitution, and he hates the Military.

Sara Palin did not have the benefit of Ivy League schools, or tutors in conservative principles, nor was she blessed with the gifts Obama has, but she is honest, sincere, and believes in the values and principles upon which this country was founded. For me that’s worth much more than eloquence without substance, and the ability to deceive and dissemble. If she ran AGAINST McCain in 2008 there’s no question in my mind that I would have supported her. McCain was a bigger loser than Bush and the Republican Party needs to learn how to select leaders rather than selecting candidates that pander to constituents and elitists simply to get elected.

clean up the corruption, (in her own party first), get the natural gas pipeline started (after the 5 previous governors did nothing but talk about it), cut billions of $/pork from the budget, plus more of her campaign promises in 2 and a half years. She then stepped out of the firing line, to let the lt gov (also elected/not appointed) take over, minus the constant distractions/bogus lawsuits that effectively made her ineffective thus saving alaskans millions more $ as well as thousands of man/woman hours. with Sarah it’s always the same put the gov’t where it belongs, working for the people not vise versa.

no wonder she po’s professional political insiders on both sides of the aisle, but motivates the “Mr. Smiths” who understand that they are supposed to work for us. In a nutshell read the book or recuse yourself from critisizing it

Someone said Girl Scout, referring to Gov. Palin. From what I have researched. Big Oil can tell you that this Lady means business, they quake when they hear her Name. And she won for Alaska. She is an Energy GURU. She’s already got her foot in that door. She took down some corrupt players in her Party. Is that not the kind of person that we would want to consider as confident. You know I’ve never been one to believe or put alot of stock in what I hear or read in the press. In my quest to know the truth about this woman, I’m finding some very impressive, gutzy accomplishments out there. Why would we not want to know more about someone like that. Maybe she could do for America what she did for Alaska. Maybe after we get past all this same ole same ole, party beakering, name calling. We may just listen to what this lady has to say. We certainly are not getting any reassuring news from Washington. Its actually embarrassing to watch it.
