Man-Made Global Warming: the Myth that Refuses to Die

November 25, 2009

Now that the issue of man-made global warming has been exposed as so much bunk, you would think that the environmentalist radicals on the left would abandon their scare tactics, withdraw the pending “cap-and-trade” legislation, and apologize to the American people for having wasted so much time and money.

Don’t hold your breath. What they are doing is coming out with even more scare tactics!

From Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now! comes an absolutely preposterous report of a study claiming that climate change will result in more civil wars in Africa!

The study, published by Stanford University’s Woods Institute for the Environment, claims that rising temperatures will lead to more civil wars in the next 20 years. David Lobell, an assistant professor at the Woods Institute, tells Goodman’s audience that the study purports to “provide the first quantitative evidence linking climate change and the risk of civil conflict”:

David Lobell, assistant professor at the Woods Institute at Stanford: “What we found was, surprisingly, is that there is not only a clear effect but a very strong effect in the incidents of civil war and the state of the climate system. Looking forward from that we can say for a degree increase, which is something we expect over the next few decades, you could expect a roughly 50 percent increase in the occurrence of civil war in Africa. Sort of a rough calculation is that about 400,000 people, additional, would die because of the climate change increase in civil war conflict.

The idea here is that since a large percentage of Africans are poor and depend largely on agriculture for their livelihoods, changes in temperatures caused by the West’s carbon emissions will have a devastating effect on their crops. And since environmental scientists assume that mankind is inherently evil, the study concludes that:

When temperatures rise, the livelihoods of many in Africa suffer greatly, and the disadvantaged become more likely to take up arms.

In fact, the researchers have predicted that the incidence of African civil wars “could increase 55 percent by 2030, resulting in an additional 390,000 battle deaths if future wars are as deadly as recent ones.”

Looking at rainfall and temperature records across Africa and correlating them with historical data on civil wars, the study purports to show that between 1980 and 2002 civil wars were “significantly more likely in warmer-than-average years.”

In fact, after reviewing their data, the Stanford researchers have the confidence to posit that:

A 1°C increase in temperature above normal increases the incidence of conflict by almost 50%.

At this point, dear reader, you are probably shrugging your shoulders and muttering “so what? I don’t live in Africa.”

Don’t worry, in this era of Al Gore and world government, the United Nations has already come up with a theory of its own designed to cover the rest of the world.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) came out with its own study two years ago, which painted an even bleaker picture of what was going to happen should we foolishly continue to ignore the damage we are causing by our unrelenting carbon emissions.

UNEP warns that:

If global warming is not confined, fragile, vulnerable states-which have already now fairly bad governance might implode under the pressure of global warming and then send shock waves to other countries so that you will have spill-over effects. If warming rose by five degrees Celsius, we might have something like a global civil war (emphasis added).

In order to prevent these global upheavals, both studies, unsurprisingly, concluded with the inevitable appeal for money.

In the Stanford study, Lobell’s colleagues at the Woods Institute hope that their findings can prove useful to policy makers at the upcoming Copenhagen negotiations in December in coming up with a monetary figure which can be paid by the West to be used on Africa’s behalf in order to avoid a future calamity.

How much money? Well it appears that there is a formula to calculate that too:

$67 billion dollars per year would be a nice start.

Hmmmm… Liberals believe that It’s OK for millions of Africans to die from diseases spread by insects because using DDT would make bird eggs fragile, and God knows that birds are more important than people… But now we have to save millions of Africans from dying in fictitious civil wars because it’s going to get hot in Africa?…..

Hot in Africa? Thats why I’m frightened for the Eskimos. Apparently no one has told them that since the world began suffering from fake global warming the temperatures of earth have gone down and this winter will be colder . Quick, someone tell the Eskimos that the winter will be cold!

The ultimate irony of this entire scam is that warming is good…

The warmer it gets, the more CO2 rises up from the oceans (where most of it comes from)

With more CO2, plant life becomes more abundant, which provides more food for all species including man.

The odds are that the earth will continue to cool for the next decade or more. Eventually it will start warming again. We’re going to hear more panic about the coming Ice Age within the next several years, which will be followed by more warming hysteria…

According the SPPI, we’ll probably be hearing about other threats real soon, mercury, ocean acidification, etc…

There’s been nothing seriously wrong with our climate since the last BIG ice age

Climate isn’t the problem… Politicians are the problem !

Speaking of Africans, notice that the statists at the U.N, and in Washington, haven’t lifted a finger to help the people of Zimbabwe, Sudan, etc., with any real problems. So lets just cut a cheque for Robert Mugabe so he and his buddies load up their Swiss bank accounts, I don’t think so!

Hysteria….Not the global warming crowd but me. I about fell of the couch laughing hysterically while reading this article.

If, the goal of these people is population control, which I believe it is, then why worry about a little thing like civil war. Doesn’t it stand to reason that will solve at least a part of the population problem and then the world will begin to cool because we have fewer people?

These people truly are nut jobs!

I thought the civil wars in Africa were caused by the Islamists coveting what the non-muslims/wrong kind of muslims have. Silly me! So it is not ‘give me your land, your wife, your daughter, your money or I will kill you. It is not convert or die. Hmmmm! It’s global warming. Wow! Amazing! Gee, who woulda thunk!

The issue is not the issue. Climate change is a means to an end, a useful wedge to divide people from their property and their liberty. The ecostatist will not relinquish its use simply because it has been revealed to be a hoax. On the contrary, he will dig in his heels and embrace even bigger lies. The statist “knows” climate change is true, just as the Christian “knows” the path to salvation is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Climate change is divine truth to the ecostatist as revealed by the new clergy of consensus scientists called to a Higher Purpose than unbiased observation and measurement of natural phenomena.

Plus, of course, all the governments in the world (who couldn’t care less what the people think or believe, anyway) go for their crap. They are all in on it, have spent too much time and money already fighting fictitious global warming, to admit they have all been wrong. I normally wouldn’t be so direct since this debacle affects all us us, but after years of being called a kook while trying to show similar information I feel a good “I told you so” is in order.

I’ve also warned about the behavior of the media (in this case the Left media) for their fake coverage, misinformation, and out right lies.

What is so truly sad is that they have already captured the minds of millions of schoolchildren while we weren’t watching. These youth are fully engrossed into the myth (as well as their single parent families) and it will take a major effort to clean their minds of the evil cobwebs of this myth. Many scientists, ones who truly should know better, have dug in their heels and remained silent so as not to bring down the wrath of the power elite not only on themselves but on the institutions for which they provide data and theories. This does not make them less objectionable, true earthworms, but it does provide an explanation for how this hoax has manifested itself so deeply into our scientific community. It will take just as much insistence, just as much REAL data, to illustrate the lie and draw these frauds out into the open. It is essential that we focus on these targets and bring the house of cards down now before Congress signs some truly unbelievably damaging treaty with the European New World Order freaks.

    Vigilance. We must remain vigilant.

ALL of this is just TRIPE! The entire solar system is heating up! Perhaps, we are “nudging” the process somewhat, but certainly, it’s high level pomposity to think we are driving it. This has been an ongoing process through the entire history of the planet, and we have unearthed the proof in dozens of areas around the world. I guess as a country who has strayed from sensible values, we have to have some kind of fodder to keep brainwashing the masses. Terrible days are ahead and there isn’t anything we can do to stop it. I’d just like to see some kind of return to sensibilities before the shoe drops, but I’m not holding my breath. Global climate changes have been with us from the beginning and will be here even if we go bye-bye… This is just one more springboard from which the elite catapult themselves into positions of control over us. As long as we allow it, we get what we deserve!

DK is spot on when he says

Global climate changes have been with us from the beginning and will be here even if we go bye-bye…

      So has climate change hysteria…

As I wrote in part 1 of my recent series on AGW:

The earliest known examples typically involve primitive witch doctors and shamans telling their people that the change in climate is an indication that God was unhappy with their sinful ways. In a strange sort of way nothing’s really changed, as shown by the fact that the current AGW crowd has literally converted this madness into a religion for their followers. The leaders themselves have ulterior motives however, and many rational observers, including myself, believe that the environmental extremists of today are virtually identical to the communists of the past. When they don’t have a good crisis to exploit, they just make one up.

From the earliest known witch doctors, to Obama, the story is still the same. They threaten the people with made up nonsense, for the sole purpose of increasing the power they hold over the people.

Don’t belive either side because they aren’t journalists, they’re entertainment news that survives on selling the ‘best’ stories.

        “look at the pack ice”
We have. Apparently these changes have been happening for millions of years,
        over and over again.

“examine the ocean acidification data (scary stuff),”
We have. Apparently according to British and German scientist, there are millions of tons of methane being released in underwater funnels and columns in the Atlantic ocean that have been affecting the ice packs. These columns have been probably around periodically for millions of years, over and over again.

“look at the cost of fighting climate change (real or imagined) look at the jobs that it will produce, look at the at what will happen should climate change be true, and the cost of doing nothing.”

I believe a study is necessary to expose to everyone how much money the U.S. and other western nations have contributed to Africa in just the last 25 years and document how that money has done anything to stop the genocide, civil wars, killings, famine, disease and AIDS in that country.

Yet these people are proposing that the U.S. become the new Africa by confiscating all of our wealth and redistributing the majority of it to Africa.

“we might have something like a global civil war.”

The “global civil war” won’t come about because of a few degrees temperature change, it will come about because of the draconian policies gov’ts will force on the people of the globe in the name of the religion “climate change”.

Never trust anything which depends on the support of politicians and actors. Both are paid to lie. And paid very, very well . . .

  14. November 25, 2009 1:11 pm

Of course there will be civil wars. The ascendancy of liberal policies in the name of saving the Earth, providing health care to all and redistribution of wealth from the “haves” to the “have nots,” will ensure them. Take a look around you. Rising costs of goods and services, rising energy costs, increasingly unsustainable entitlement programs and oppressive taxes to pay for them will force the middle class out of existence, force millions into poverty and insulate the uber-rich and political elites. Thus Marx’s vision of class warfare will be realized and uprisings of the impoverished will be the only recourse. Naturally the elites will need to suppress these. Check and mate. Totalitarianism will win. Unless we the people stop it now, before our political and financial power to do so is so diminished that only force of arms will save us.

Skeptics and conspiracy buffs need to understand that even without any CRU data nor the publications of it scientists, there are MULTIPLE lines of evidence for AGW:

    1) UAH, RSS, and GISS show warming
    2) Rapidly warming Arctic
    3) Rapidly decreasing sea ice extent
    4) Rapidly thinning sea ice
    5) Rising ocean heat content
    6) Cooling stratosphere
    7) Net increase in downwelling LW
8 ) Net decreasing TOA LW emission
    9) Increased species migrations/extinctions
    10) Increased severe weather occurrences
    11) Glacier mass loss and retreats increasing
    12) Rising sea levels
    13) Most importantly: rapidly rising human emissions of GHGs that have not been seen in millions of years.

None of these things read emails and have decided to play along in a massive international conspiracy.

          Yes warming is good.

During the medieval warm period, which you charlatans tried to hide with your hockey stick, everything flourished. There was even a thriving winery in Northern Scotland. During the little ice age however, millions of people starved to death because there wasen’t enough food to eat. Cooling beyond a few degrees below the thousand year mean average is a worry, but there’s nothing that man can do about about it, other than learn to adapt to it.

Likewise, there’s nothing we can do about warming, other than learn to adapt to it.

You err again when you imply that I’m engaged in “Climate Change Denial”.. Nobody on the rational side of this issue deny’s that warming has been happening, it’s been happening with a few small downward turns since the end of little ice age. What we deny, and have proved, is that mankind’s use of fossil fuels has had no more than a statistically insignificant effect on this warming. If it was, how the hell do you explain the cooling that took place from 1940 to 1975?

You predictions about rising seal levels are totally bogus. They’re based on bogus data, and flawed modeling formulas, and they have been PROVED to be bogus by REAL scientists.

          Here’s the facts:

The earth has flourished during times when we had 800ppm of co2 in the atmosphere, so how in the hell is a concentration of 350ppm going to harm us ? CO2 is plant food you fool. But even if it were bad for us, please tell me how man made CO2, which accounts for only 0.000025 % of the earth’s atmosphere could possibly have such a dramatic effect on the earth as to change the planet’s climate? It can’t! What % of your AGW congregation do you suppose actually knows that CO2 is nothing more than a minor trace gas, in terms of our atmosphere ?

Every single part of your absurd theory is a blatant and outright lie.

During the Permian and Jurassic period the earth was roughly 8 degrees warmer than the average temperature of the last thousand years, and it was the most lush environment than you could possibly imagine. During the Medieval Warm Period, the earth was roughly 3 to 4 degrees warmer than the same thousand year average, and life all over the planet flourished… There were lush vineyards inNorthern Scotland, and GREENLAND, which was discovered at that time, was still GREEN. Jump a few hundred years forward to the Little Ice Age, when the earth was roughly 3 to 4 degrees below the thousand year average, millions of people died of starvation because IT WAS TOO DAMN COLD TO GROW THEIR CROPS !

We are currently roughly one degree above the thousand year average, which is as one would expect, having just come out of a 600 yearlong cool period… That one degree above the median is GOOD, not BAD.

Unfortunately, the earth stopped warming in 1998, and for the last 8 years it’s been cooling at a consistent rate. We’ve actually cooled by 0.2 degrees since 1998.

Nowhere in the last 1000 years has the world gone through climate changes that man cannot adapt to.

Now, we don’t try to stop hurricanes, or tidal waves, or earthquakes, or volcanoes do we ?

The what in the hell gives you the absurd idea we can alter the earth’s naturally changing climate patterns ?

You can’t, you know you can’t, and you and your predecessors have been running this absurd con game since the beginning of recorded history, when witch doctors, who were only out for power over their people, told them that climate change was a sign that the gods were angry at them, and that if they didn’t do exactly what the witch doctor told them to do, they’d burn up or freeze to death…

You sir, stand at the end of a long line of liars, frauds, scam artists, and criminals, who care only about money and power, and to this day, the only thing you have on your side is the ignorance of the general public which continues to fall for your bull$hit stories.

Meanwhile, answer one question for me if you would:

          Everyone complains about the weather…

How come only the democrats try to legislate it ?

The bottom line is that if you‘re not a climate scientist and you actually believe this crap you’re a moron, and if you are a climate scientist and you say that you actually believe it then you’re a liar.

In either event, it’s not worth our time here to waste one further second arguing with you.

Now go crawl back under whatever rock you were hiding under, and look for another house to haunt, because the members here at NewsReal blog, are far too intelligent to believe one word that comes out of your foul mouth.

You’re mixing up your respondents… and we call those shaman ‘minister’ or ‘priests’ now.

Warmer temperatures wouldn’t be bad..if a) so many millions didn’t live at and below sea level b) we weren’t so overpopulated and c) acidification of the oceans doesn’t also happen.

“far too intelligent to believe one word that comes out of your foul mouth.” Firstly up till now I haven’t been foul mouthed, it doesn’t serve a purpose and slinging mud just undermines any sensible argument. Secondly I’m not seeing much sign of ‘intelligence’ on these forums.

Leaving the asylum now, last one out turn out the lights please.

Your mouth is foul because all it does is spout lies, just like the one you just told us about rising sea levels.

It’s pure BULL$HIT, just like everything else you’ve said thus far…

The Goracle and the IPCC have been using scare tactics about rising sea levels for years. Here’s the truth about the subject from Lord Monckton’s report on the conclusions of the British High Court in their decision against allowing the unrestricted free viewing of Gore‘s science fiction horror film to British school kids.

Gore says that a sea-level rise of up to 6 m (20 ft) will be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland.1 Though Gore does not say that the sea-level rise will occur in the near future, the judge found that, in the context, it was clear that this is what he had meant, since he showed expensive graphical representations of the effect of his imagined 6 m (20 ft) sea-level rise on existing populations, and he quantified the numbers who would be displaced by the sea-level rise.

The IPCC says sea-level increases up to 7 m (23 ft) above today’s levels have happened naturally in the past climate, and would only be likely to happen again after several millennia. In the next 100 years, according to calculations based on figures in the IPCC’s 2007 report, these two ice sheets between them will add a little over 6 cm (2.5 inches) to sea level, not 6 m (this figure of 6 cm is 15% of the IPCC’s total central estimate of a 43cm or 1 ft 5 in sea-level rise over the next century). Gore has accordingly exaggerated the official sea-level estimate by approaching 10,000 per cent.

Ms. Kreider says the IPCC estimates a sea-level rise of “59 cm” by 2100. She fails to point out that this amounts to less than 2 ft, not the 20 ft imagined by Gore. She also fails to point out that this is the IPCC’s upper estimate, on its most extreme scenario. And she fails to state that the IPCC, faced with a stream of peer-reviewed articles stating that sea level rise is not a threat, has reduced this upper estimate from 3 ft in 2001 to less than 2 ft (i.e. half the mean centennial sea-level rise that has occurred since the end of the last Ice Age 10,000 years ago) in 2007.

The IPCC’s predictions above of course, are all predicated on the assumption that the warming is going to continue for a long time, and we all know that that’s not true since the warming ended 11 years ago, and since we’ve been steadily cooling for the last 8 years.

The fact is that all of the IPCC’s predictions have turned out to be wrong by massive proportions, because they’re all based on falsified or exaggerated data interpreted by junk science. Here’s the most recent proof of that:

So please do as I suggested, and go sell crazy somewhere else, we’ve heard and seen more of it that we can stomach at this point…

          Reaper,

“That’s me out of here, there’s no point talking when all it does is polarize already held positions.”

Or, in other words, “The debate is over!” Sadly reaper, the debate is never over, as long as real scientific proof is available. All these models have been proven wrong. The earths atmosphere is directly connected to dozens of circumstances that we have no idea on how to measure when taken in all together. And there are probably a dozen more that we don’t know about.

Your ranting that people who believe in god somehow makes these scientist less accountable to the truth. When it’s just the opposite. Science and religion are absolutely connected by their very substance. Honestly, why reach for the stars unless it’s to touch the hand of God? I don’t mean physically of course but it’s mans destiny to grow. And one day , maybe, we will achieve recognition and God may say ‘welcome’, when we get there. That’s along way from now. But with this global warming scam we have taken more steps back and still there are those that want us back in the caves to save the earth.

Perhaps it’s your disbelief in god that makes you worship science so much? Perhaps you believe that man has no one to answer to and that we will reach nirvana on our own? Look where that has led. Socialism, communism, the Third Reich… Not very impressive is it?

“Warmer temperatures wouldn’t be bad..if a) so many millions didn’t live at and below sea level b) we weren’t so overpopulated and c) acidification of the oceans doesn’t also happen.”

All that is theory reaper. Models based on a few facts but never cover the whole picture. Would you make life and death decisions based on half truths and not enough information? Your trusting the scientist who have been proven liars and politicians who care only for power.

These are your gods reaper. And their alter will be stained with the blood of the millions who will be sacrificed for their ‘visions’.

If you really want to save the earth reaper, then focus on ‘creating’ better plants and machines that will help the planet instead of knocking everything down so you can stand on top of civilizations grave and cry ‘glory to me in the highest’.

The use of scare tactics is a form of terrorism and should be treated as a (military) criminal offense.

      I agree…

But how can you single out these lies as a criminal offense when virtually everything else that our government is telling us is also a lie ?

Obama should be impeached for the perjury he committed when he said 2 words at the end of his inauguration ceremony.

When asked by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court if he swore to protect and defend The Constitution of the United States, he said I DO</i?

I completely agree! Funny thing…. Remember history…. In the first 100 days of the Clinton administration, the only campaign promises kept were partial-birth abortion, and gays in the military! In Obama’s run, his first 100 days saw only the stem-cell research given the “rubber stamp.” When our unborn become no more than chattle because we are STUPID enough to elect these heathens, (remember Obama disconnecting himself from his pastor for standing on Biblical principles?) then we are only obviously getting what we deserve!!!! GOD, being the gentleman that he is, once our “government” has virtually outlawed prayer in school and everywhere else, has bowed out of our affairs! If you were so ridiculed by black-hearted mumbo-jumbo, wouldn’t you bow out also? Then the idiots sit back and wonder why, why, why are things so bad! IDIOTS!!!

I also meant to add to the above that when the unborn cannot be protected in tihs country, then what right do we think we have to be protected either, having actually BEEN born.
