The White House Party Crash of 2009: When the Comedy subsides, the Ominous Tragedy Chills

November 28, 2009

Editor’s Note: For additional NewsReal coverage of this story click here and here.

It is true. You already know about it. Tareq and Michaela Sahali weaseled their way through White House security and crashed the State party. What in the world were they thinking?  And what in the world is the world thinking?

As I’m typing this sentence millions of Americans are simultaneously having the same thought: “If the president can’t secure his own front door from uninvited strangers, how’s he going to keep America safe from terrorist attacks?” I’m going to risk your un-forgiveness, and not just for my overuse of colons, but for my spontaneous impulse to blurt this out. Here it goes:

What in the ever loving____?  Just who in the ____ is minding the store? Ok, Buster, hand over those keys to the Pennsy Ave. digs right now, you are grounded, mister! NO MORE PARTIES!  Especially the SOCIALIST KIND!  Howsabout spending a little of that stimulus allowance on a few rent-a-cops, chief?   White House thinks: “Do we risk offending a guest with a name such as Tareq Sahali , or do we risk the extremely remote chance of him being a W.H. party crasher?  We shall err on the SAFE SIDE!” Call in the expert: WWCD (What would Clinton do?)

Ok, I feel better now. Sorry.

You’ll have to admit, this presidency is so full of tragedy, in order to remain sane one is almost forced to focus on the comedy of it all.

Can any of us wait to hear the Mathews Excuse, or Keith Obamarmann’s spin on this colossal blunder? Will the far left use this opportunity to beat up Obama because of the extreme dissatisfaction over his conservative style of leadership?  What will the ladies of the View have to say about this national embarrassment?

In the ensuing days you can bet jokes, jabs, and jeers will run viral on the net, and comedy writers are at this very moment glued to their computers with empty cans of Energy Drinks strewn about their feet, briskly typing  W.H. security faux pas scripts.  More than likely the president’s own writers are the busiest among these, loading Obama’s guns up with some brilliant comic relief lines he can quickly fire off in order to mitigate the inevitable bombardment from the talk show hosts and SNL. No doubt, there is plenty of comedy to cull out from this gaffe, and that may well be the best defense for the White House. Because if the laughter is high enough it just might camouflage the reality of the tragedy.

Ronald Kessler of Newsmax offers his cataclysmic view of the situation:

“While the couple did pass through a magnetometer to detect weapons, they could have assassinated the president or vice president using other means—anthrax, for example.”

Maybe in another time and with another White House that radiated confidence, this incident might not be so obtrusive. But in November of 2009, there is a disquieting diffidence growing rapidly in our population and throughout the world, inflicting many more people than the H1N1 virus.  While under Obama, it may be true that our nation is growing more likeable in the eyes of the world, The United States of America is also beginning to be perceived as a weak and uncertain nation,  lacking leadership. The tragedy in this is when a couple of uninvited guests are able to invade the home of the leader of the free world, other aspiring uninvited guests are likely to perceive this as their invitation.

Terror attacks are sporadically breaking out on our soil for the first time since 9/11. The Taliban has gained the momentum in Afghanistan as the president cannot decide whether or not to grant his General’s request for more troops. American soldiers are being killed as he dithers. Job loss in the nation has reached panic zone level. Our deficit is quite literally off the galactic charts. We are printing money and debasing our currency. China, our largest creditor could, at any time, dump our securities on to the world market creating unimaginable chaos. And our president is hosting parties where he cannot distinguish between celebrity guests and intruders.

If Obama decides to utilize his customary levity to control this damage, let’s hope his writers aren’t suffering from holiday hangovers. They’ll need to be on top of their creative games for this one.

Right on , Nick ! You are so right. What a Hoot this administration is ! We are in a Recession / Depression, etc. and all they do is travel and party, party, party. How much did this party cost? How much did Michelle’s handmade dress cost ? 40 workers working on it for 3 weeks. How many homeless could we have fed with that money ? How much has been spent on trips by Pelosi and all of the administration since Obama took office? Do you have a dollar amount on that ? It has to be astronomical!
No COLA for Seniors…. How could there be? They need every dime they can get for new clothes, trips, and parties. They’ll have to print more money for more trips and parties !

It is my guess that Barack Obama’s inept leadership style is directly responsible for this serious security lapse. The high likelihood is that the Secret Service was told to cut a lot of slack to the visitors. It would not surprise me in the least if we eventually found out that Obama sent his own person to oversee the event and essentially push the regular security bosses to the side. At the end of the day, Secret Service personnel are government employees and probably adhere to the well establish rule: mind your own business, keep your mouth shut—and don’t dare get in the way of superiors who can severely damage your career. Just go with the flow. Obama is just as nasty and vindictive as Richard Nixon or Lyndon B. Johnson. He would not hesitate to slap someone around who dares gets in his way.

Maybe there is more to be revealed. The Sahali’s were beyond brazen, wouldn’t you agree? I’m not entirely satisfied with the Balloon-boy explanation – particularly when the Balloon story is so fresh and covenient to use as their motive.

America only recently digested that wild story and so now it knows social/celebrity climbers will do practically anything to move themselves up the ladder toward their obsession. I bought the explanation immediately BECAUSE of Ballon boy. Now I question it because of Balloon boy.

I wonder if either or both of the Sahali’s have any ties with some one in the White House?

Obama is just as nasty and vindictive as … Lyndon Johnson.

Richard Nixon was a boy scout compared even to Johnson’s “made-man” consigliere, Bill Moyers. And none of them was a tenth as scary as are 0zero and the Soros/Socialist Internationale-enabled fascists that surround and prop him and put the poop in his ‘PrompTer.

My first questions would be “Who is in charge of the Secret Service”? and “Who was responsible for cutting the security budget”? “Wasn’t the SS put under the Homeland Security umbrella”? Hmmmm, “Who is in charge of Homeland Security”? I doubt the Media will get this far into the breach, unless they can blame it on Bush.

Responsible presidents were accountable presidents for all of their nation – including The White House, which, last I checked, is located somewhere within it.
In fact one accountable, Big League, president coined a phrase. Went like this: “The buck stops here.”

    • November 29, 2009 4:30 am

No Bob, the Executive Branch is responsible for both, the Secret Sevice works directly for the Executive Branch. That is the problem in this country too many people do not understand the separation of powers between the three arms of the government and expect them each do the other branches job.

Contact the Hertiage Foundation and for about 50 cents you can get a copy of the US Consitution and the Bill of Rights. Take the time to read those documents and you might understand who job it is to project both the United States and the Presidency.

But when you really give this some thought, Obama, the Unprecedented Presdent, has set yet another precedent a few months ago in Caimbridge. He told the nation that when police hassle people who break into doors to gain access to houses, the police are “stupid” if they arrest them. Therefore, Obama’s hands were tied. Gotta give him a pass on this one.

You obviously haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention to the legitimate concerns that attend a breach of security like this one. Try this on for size, my friend: what would your reaction be had the Sahalis had malevolent intent behind their antics? Who would you be blaming? George Bush? And what if said intent had been on the part of a bonafide jihadi, such as the Fort Hood murderer? Would you have blamed Bush? America? or the lax security of your president? Progressives have only one redeeming feature — they’re so easily

How do we know that the couple didn’t place a listening device or a nice packet of anthrax somewhere in the white house, as easily as they eluded security?

How long had they been wandering around before someone realized that they weren’t supposed to be there?

How much access to how much of the White House do “guests” have?

How far did they have to travel from the gates to where the event was being held?

Why weren’t guests required to have their invitation with them or to be on a check off list in the first place before they ever entered the gates?

Furthermore, this couple had already been denied access at one gate, for them to be so brazen as to push on to another gate, couldn’t they have had motive or been on a mission?

Finally, knowing that they were not on the guest list, did the president or any of his staff know these people or had they met them prior to this event?

If these people are not prosecuted, we can guess that maybe they were all old friends. hmmm.

They got out of the white house, for the dinner they crashed, before dinner was even served.

Only after they left did someone realize they were imposters. Did they get a tip-off from someone on the outside?

We can only speculate in the here and now. The truth will not likely come out until Obama leaves office—and the present Secret Service agents can somewhat freely spill their guts. It is my guess that this administration is wildly indifferent towards routine security matters. The guests are often given virtually full permission to come and go as they please. Security officials have learned that it is best to shrug their shoulders and look the other way. “It ain’t my problem, Dude. My butt is covered. Obama can call the shots anyway he so desires,” is the prevalent mindset.

According to Ron Kessler, who in his latest book, “In the President’s Secret Service,” there are several reasons for the laxness of the US Secret Service. (By the way, it is a great read. I highly recommend it.)

The Bush administration, after 9-11 doubled the number of protectees that they were responsible for. The Secret Service itself increased the amount of criminal investigative activities they were undertaking because that was the only place they really got any positive accolades. With a doubling of their duties, the funding has increased only with the amount of inflation, if that. So they have twice as much work for the same amount of funding. Agents are leaving because they just can’t continue to do more for less.

Since March of 2003 the US Secret Service has been under the purvue of Dept of Homeland Security. Wow, can you imagine a professional law enforcement group being run by Janet Napolitano??? Good luck.

Kessler says in his book, “Rather than taking a long-range view and making waves by demanding the necessary funding or shedding jurisdiction in some areas, Secret Service management makes do, boasting, “We do more for less.”

“The result according to current and former agents, is that since it became part of DHS, the Secret Service has been cutting corners and covering up deficiencies to the point where the security of the president, vice-president, and presidential candidates is compromised.”

“They will cut a protective detail down to the bone to save on costs, but throw every agent into an operation that will result in arrests, ” an agent says. “The service either needs twice as many agents or half as much responsibility. The priorities are all messed up.”

So add it all up and we have an agency that is totally mismanaged by a socialist government that just doesn’t give a damn.

The first place to look is at the Director of White House security, which is probably the Secret Service, but I don’t know that for sure.

This could have resulted in an assault or assassination attempt on anyone in the building, albeit it without use of firearms or other deadly weapons. Weapons are not necessary. There are people in the world who are trained to kill or seriously injure others very quickly using only their hands.

I hope someone in a position of real authority who has a grip on the seriousness of what happened is looking into this one.

Although it’s true that the Salahis weren’t invited to this White House party there is evidence that Obama knew these people previously even pictured with them at other parties or get- togethers. Did the Salahis bring an entourage along to record photographically their White House party crashing event? Seems there are too many pictures of them along with their “buddies” at the party to not at least question what’s this all about?

Could be the whole event was designed for the purpose of enabling those in the administration to “probe” Secret Service and “security”. For what purpose? Who knows? Maybe to permit these folks to use another concocted “crisis” to install their own like-minded people into the Secret Service — the Obama version of the Reichstag Fire … but I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that seems t be by design smelling fishy already.
