Tiger Woods, O.J. Simpson & Mike Huckabee

December 1, 2009

Tiger's got reason to not be in quite so celebratory a mood...

I’ve been thinking: If I were Tiger Woods how secure would I feel climbing under the same covers again with this woman? I’m referring of course to the wife who, from the evidence available, tried to murder Tiger with a golf club and pretty near succeeded. A punch, a scratch — that’s one thing. Earned anger from a betrayed spouse. But golf club homicide is quite another. His refusal to talk to police is an effort to protect her from a felony charge. But how protective is it of himself? Nicole Simpson learned the hard way that violence is a pathology that can’t be appeased without cost. Mike Huckabee’s commutations and paroles of two sociopaths cost 5 people their lives. Perhaps more. I’m not saying that Tiger’s wife will strike again. Just that pretending there’s no problem can be very dangerous.

An interview of Huckabee today by Hannity was enlightening as to the Governor’s part in this.

On the other hand, Tiger now knows what will happen if he again decides not to be her husband. She gave him some therapy that mere words cannot convey.

It’s hard to feel sorry for people that have everything — great career, wealth, beautiful wife and family — and engage in adultery. Whatever happens to people like this is entirely their own fault.

So someone who doesn’t have everthing and commits adultery is not at fault??? The person that commits adultery did it by choice……no matter what they have or haven’t got. If you blame it on someone or something else you have no control over it…..the only person we can change is ourself. I personally hope they can work it out but it will take alot on her part. Sounds like they can use some good counseling. Hope they get it.

Actions have consequences, and those consequences invariably have costs. Once
the deeds are done there’s no way to undo them. No amount of money, fame or
celebrity status can redeem and make go away the unseemly. Sometimes the actions
have deadly consequences, sometimes they can be financial in nature, like losing a
    sponsor.
The worst thing one can lose is the moral clarity and and moral authority everyone
once thought you had. That’s why the longer you try to hide the facts of what happened
from the public, the worse the backlash from the public will be. The public can be
very forgiving if you admit your mistake immediately, and they can be your worst
enemy if you fail to fess up and show your humanity. Hubris has no place but to take
you down to the lowest if you let it.

Its not my problem, its not my business-but I say this. If Tiger Woods had an affair, it won’t be the last time this will happen and if he had an affair, we will likely find out about it.

I think David overstepped on this one. No one really has any idea what took place at Tiger Wood’s house Friday morning. There is gossip. There is speculation. There is probably some measure of wishful thinking, for some reason. But the fact is, no one really knows. And neither of the Woods are talking.

It is clear that, so far at least, the Woods are much smarter than other famous people who have been in similar perceived circumstances. They have kept their traps shut and are letting everyone else hang themselves on their own speculations. I hope they manage to keep it up. I am pleased to finally see someone who doesn’t jump into the lion’s mouth just because the tabloid media are showing their teeth.

From what I’ve seen of this episode, the Woods need not answer the questions of ANYONE, and certainly not of the bloodsuckers in the media.

A week from now, barring further odd revelations, this will be forgotten as we are absorbed into the morasse of Obama’s Afghanistan adventures and the Democrats tell us that the are going to increase our taxes significantly while we lose our jobs, our homes and our very country.

Hmm, an interesting thought Dave about Tgrer’s lady!
If the shoe fits and I suspect it does, an excellent display of your enlightening since your upbringing as a Lefty. (I used to listen on NPR, you were awesome and in their face!)

The descendant of a Jew who mustered out of the Continmental Army and changed his name; pulling myself up by me bootstraps, I married the daughter of a wealthy Chinese immigrant. Though she would dog me for dalliances, as long as I only brought home my paycheck and not an STD I could get away with playing around if I didn’t control myself. Philipina and Nortic ladys OWN their men! If Tiger don’t tow the line, he might find certain genitalia missing if he don’t reserve his urges for his wife. If son like father, Tiger should have married a Thai

I was on a jury for a case which featured a wife attacking a husband who was found in the presence of a young woman in his car. She also scratched his face and hit him repeatedly. He did nothing but try to cover up. When the police arrived, they did what is apparently standard procedure for domestic violence cases. They arrested the husband and took him off to be interrogated.

Don’t assume that Tiger is protecting his wife from arrest by not talking.

Her act just makes her look needy and less appealing. If someone is cheating on you, there’s no need for violence – get your revenge by finding somebody new.

In a free country you have the right to do what you want as long as you don’t infringe on another’s right to do the same. And that includes cheating.

Did you ever hear of marital vows?
She looks Needy? What a stupid comment.
When you cheat, you are a dog. Do not give Woods a pass on this. Woods is an idiot.
He screwed around and lied for three days. Pathetic.
Have a spine and call it what it is.
Before the “transgression” – Tiger was with the group of elite golfers, Snead, Jones, Palmer, and Nicklaus and others.
Now he can be included in another group. Cheaters. Letterman, Sanford, Spritzer, and et al.
Oh, one other thing, in this country, sometimes, if you play, then you have to pay.

AGREED! You know, if you track the etymology of the word “divorce” it literally means to “amputate one’s own soul.” Marriage, being a covenant far and away made in the heart, rather than with some paper trail, the angst and pain that woman felt probably drove her to respond in the only way she could, being faced with a death pang in her heart. If she DID whop him with a golf club, it’s only because he was putting around with some other holes….

A cheating husband destroys his marriage or at least the possibility of a good one. Ronald Reagan said something like, “A woman may not know her husband is cheating but it hurts the marriage.” This is true because his thoughts are not with the family and building a strong foundation for his children. If a man plans to cheat he should tell the woman he plans to marry what his values are ahead of marriage. Differences in values are valid reasons for throwing your resignation on the table.

Folks, Huckabee did not release that cop killer. He commuted the original sentence from 108 years to 47 years for a burglary charge from when the perp was 16. The guy served 11 years in prison and was released by the parole board in ARK. The perp violated parole but, was not put back in prison by the court system. The media has been all over Huckabee for this but, Huck’s cupability is very low based on the TRUE facts of the case. I am not a Huck for Prez guy and have not been a big fan of his but, let’s print the whole story and not a prefab headline.

Not so Hucks participation in this is very troubling indeed and I believe merit an investigation. This man had high priced atty, working for his release and over the objection of the atty generals office warning he was dangerous Huckleberry comuted his sentencehe stamped aproved and the board did what they always do approved it after the gov has something stinks. I know I have seen the system work and locked up the thugs that people like Huck release.

woods; nobodies business. people/the media assume some moral authority because
they are used to living vicariously thru other people’s misery.

    huckabee; not his fault.
if parole boards were forced to live in a neighborhood where the prisoners they released also lived we would see a sensible release system. as it it
the parole system is a joke designed to keep some employed at the expense of other’s safety. (also misguided social engineering)

    David:

Tiger did not talk to police so he could protect his wife from a felony charge? I hate to be cynical, but I would think Tiger did not talk to police so he could muster his minders to determine the best exit from this for TIGER. Just as Teddy Kennedy did at Chappaquiddick.

I have not met Tiger Woods, so all I can use to form opinion is gut-feel, common sense, and what I consider my own better judgement of people. It is no secret, indeed it is fact, that Tiger was brought up by his father to be insular, directing most of his life’s efforts to being a successful golf professional. He has succeeded magnificently. But it would seem that like many others similarly reared, therein lies a major deficiency, and if you look at other sports, you will find Tiger “compatriots” in abundance. In Tiger’s case, he seems to have lost out when he cut the class on humility, losing the basic ability to think of others.

As for getting under the covers again with his wife, David, he should be so lucky!

Although this subject does not seem political, it does point out the moral values all to evident in this country, today. It is very unfortunate for Tiger, but the door to scandle is now open and for that, he must suffer the consequences.

Presently, the media is caught in a quandary: Tiger’s escapades or the health care of Americans.

      Gordon;

I’ve know a few exceptional men, whose wives drove them so crazy that anything they did seemed justified.

I kind of doubt however, that that’s the case with Tiger.

Most people think that Elin went after Tiger because of his money, and that might well be true, however Elin who previously had been a model, was working as a traveling Nanny for another PGA star, Jesper Parnevik and his wife.

Tiger first met her at the British Open, where she was taking care of Parnevik’s kids.

Tiger probably is the greatest golfer of all times, (with the one possibly exception of Bobby Jones), and it’s pretty hard to imagine that anyone at the very top of his chosen field like Tiger, with such an enormous legion of adoring fans, could possibly remain completely unaffected by the fame and fortune that comes with his talent. At the very least, he probably became spoiled, and figured that too much, wasn’t enough for him.

I’ll withhold my judgment on him for the time being.

That free milk schtick is the rudest insult ever used by a man toward a woman. Those who use it are beneath contempt.

Tiger’s behavior is inexcusable, and as a man who’s previous public behavior seems to have been exemplary, I assume he has the morals and values to feel shame. As he’s avoided any dirt so far, it appears this will be rough. He’ll have to live with his disgrace, and, I hope, his wife and children.

She on the other hand, stooped the lowest. Violence toward your own loved one is never the answer. She has the money to use legal means to hurt him, if that is her goal. If she wants to stay married to him, she’ll have to find another way to handle it. That level of rage is a big red flag for them both. Sad and stupid.

Now Mike Huckabee, on the other hand…. sad and stupid. I’m not a big fan of his, but it looks like maybe he was sharing a pew with Jimmy Carter when he pulled that move.

Maybe you can find a “hide me” czar. It could happen.

  24. December 3, 2009 12:54 pm

As a person of intuitive perception I would suggest that the conversation during the argument led to Tiger making remarks to or about his wife which led to her demented fury. And who can blame her? Some months ago I received an e-mail displaying a lady in nude and suggestive poses with the tag “Scroll down to see who’s wife this is”; it was Elin Woods. That any man with a wife that beautiful should hunt around for the feminine charms of available women indisputably shows mental sickness and a marriage that is intrinsically unstable. Looks like time for Mrs Woods to take the children and half his fortune.
