Even Media Matters speechless over Matthew’s ‘enemy camp’ line

"Enemy camp"? (Photo: AP)

MSNBC’s Oddball Hardball host Chris Matthews endures plenty of criticism here at NewsReal — and why not?

When he’s not trading on his flimsy cradle Catholicism to pontificate (inaccurately) on matters religious, Matthews veers between making flimsy accusations of “racism” and spouting historical inaccuracies.

But you know it’s bad when even the George Soros Steno Pool, otherwise known as Media Matters, subjects Matthews to its patented “no comment required” treatment.

This morning, their front page highlights Chris Matthew’s instantly infamous remark following President Obama‘s address about the war in Afghanistan last night — that the location of the President’s speech, West Point, was “the enemy camp.”

Even for Matthews, the line was truly bizarre. Was he saying those cadets were America’s enemy? That can’t be it. Is the Commander in Chief their enemy? Sure, Obama is an anti-war Democrat, but that doesn’t sound quite right either.

Media Matters posts the video clip without comment. Their (mostly left-leaning) readers, however, had plenty to say.

A commenter using the handle “Limit Corp. Ownership” writes: “Matthews proves once again he’s a sputtering piece of pathetic, corporate news crap.”

“Fairliberal” added: “After hearing his ‘tingly feeling’ comments nothing this jerk says will surprize [sic] me. It is no wonder that MSNBC’s ratings are in the tank with fools like this on the air.”

“Dem02020” called the “enemy camp” line “almost unbelievable, and (…) certainly outrageous,” while another (apparently using Media Matters’ nickname for Matthews) said simply, “Tweety has now officially lost it.”

So that’s one thing the left and the right can finally agree on: Chris Matthews should retire from television.

We must remember that Mr. Matthews would have to increase his IQ considerably to reach “moron”. He is a pitiable disgrace.

When your own supporters begin to wonder what the hell you’re talking about, it is time to retire to the pasture with similar bulls full of excretement. Keith will be joining you shortly.

I guess George Washington was the enemy all along (only f-ing according to Chris Matthews a.k.a. Obama-Humper 2000 (one of the only models ever made!), the Obama-Humper 3000 is the Olbermann model). Chris Matthews thinks that talking to Al-Qaeda isn’t bad. He got a “chill” up his leg during Obama’s speech at the DNC in August 2008. Chris Matthews is just plainly, a COMPLETE Idiot. But the Obama-Humper 2000 may be retired and re-called due to Anti Obama-Humper circumstances from the Obama-Humper 2000.

    @ Kathy Shaidle

As usual…great ‘tongue in cheek’ humor.

Didn’t MediaMatters give Mathews an award some time back? I can’t remember the exact name of it, so I’ll paraphrase… 2005 (?) Idiot Journalist of the Year…O’Reilly won it the next year.

Saying that West Point is the “enemy camp” may have been an unconscious slip and revealing the real Chris Matthews. I came across this video of him being asked directly about the Council of Foreign Relations in which he is at first caught off guard and then recovers by attacking the questioner about being a conspiracy theorist. He then goes on to say that he has known CFR President Richard Haass for 30 years and Haass’ wife is Matthews book editor. So Matthews says he’s tight with the CFR — was this a Freudian slip by him showing that his puppet masters at CFR consider real Americans and the West Point academy their enemies?

    I think it does …

By “enemy camp”, Matthews did not mean West Point as such but rather the Academy as a long-standing focus for leftard bleats and squeaks. To true-blue anti-patriots of Matthews’ ilk, West Point Cadets and all they stand for –Duty, Honor, Country– represent a heart of darkness, Warriors of Reality vs. the vapid PCBS bumwads Matthews celebrates.

Such comments are deeply ingrained in this cretin’s deliquescent Baby Boomer psyche. When they slip out, like Imus’ “nappy-headed ho’s”, it truly surprises him that anyone might call him to account. Say or do anything, then whine “misunderstood” or “out of context”– that is leftards’ way. We’d bet his audience as a whole not only agrees with such a statement, but would love to hear it expressed in stronger terms more frequently.

The best part is that MSNBC and Matthews are going to ride together down into the oblivion of no ratings at all soon.

When you start to smell your own. Time to quit.
You ought to know what happens to lefty’s when their own turn on them.
If Chris Matthews loses it again to become a liability. They will set the hounds on him.
    He will be Rathered justly.
