In the future, everyone will be Hitler for fifteen minutes

December 4, 2009

Ingrid Bergman in "Gaslight" (1944)

I wish I could take credit for that line, but it was the fellow behind the now-defunct blog Beautiful Atrocities.

Sadly, I also can’t lay claim to the word “gaslighting,” a “form of intimidation or psychological abuse in which false information is presented to the victim, making them doubt their own memory and perception.”

Jamison Foser at Media Matters is among many left-leaning fellows auditioning for the Charles Boyer role these days. The latest left wing strategy (which, not coincidentally, resembles many another left wing strategy) is to try convincing millions of Americans that their memories, and the evidence of their senses, are utterly unreliable. That they, along with half the country… may be… going… craaaaaayyyyyzeeeee…

Today, Foser bashes conservative pundits, writing these words with (I’m obliged to assume) a perfectly straight face:

Barack Obama, they told us, was a racist and a socialist. A Stalinist. A Marxist and a Maoist. They claimed he reminded them of Mussolini and of Nixon (even getting a bunch of legitimate reporters to buy into that one). Not only that: He is just like Hitler.

But Godwin’s Law is not to be trifled with. Comparisons to Hitler tend to blow up in the speaker’s face, and this was no different. (…) These people aren’t right in the head.

But wait, there’s more. This week, both White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and now Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, both claimed to have no memory of anyone ever comparing President Bush to Adolph Hitler during the previous eight years. (In related news, both Gibbs and Whitehouse also asked for cheeseburgers when they finally emerged from their lengthy comas…)

I know you don’t need me to provide you with this, but I will anyway:

What is missing is the fact that the Democrats in control present us with this “Gentleman Scholar” while we are suppose to not recognize what is being proposed behind closed doors to further the cause of socialism.

The diversion is in place and we must no fall prey to it.

The argument is not about Obama; it is about the principles of his doctrine.

And socialism is a watered-down version aka ‘politically correct’ word for COMMUNISM. Though both of these are the mechanism used for controlling the masses of us slaves/serfs as we go down in a slowly sinking ship while the ’empty vessels’ remain floating at the top and grow richer, more powerful, all controlling.

Whatever word is chosen to explain/label the current situation across the globe…if it isnt LIBERTY, it is ENSLAVEMENT…no matter what choice of word of suppression used.

Carterthewriter I agree with you. Obama is just the puppet. Somebody else has their hand up his ass and making his mouth open and close. (can I say ass here???)

What we have to focus on is who and how many. Those are the people that have to be exposed.

Yes, it”s silly to claim that the left never compared Bush with Hitler
The difference is this: do you denounce those President/Hitler comparisons?

I only speak for myself, but I denounced them starting about 2004, and was very vocal to my liberal friends about it, and urged them that the best weapon they could wield in their criticism of Bush was to be scrupulously respectful of (at least the office of) the President.

The question to ask Gibbs and others is — do you denounce President/Hitler comparisons, both those past and present? I have no way to know how they’d anwer but my question to you is: do you?

I might add that they would openly denounce that while still supporting the message underhandidly. That, unfortunately is the sorry state of politics, today.

The only thing we have left to judge is what they propose and what the effect that proposal will have concerning the way we want to live in the future.

Neither side shown more than a propensity to secure their own futures, not ours.

Let Gibbs denounce 0r lie all he wants. In 2010 when a lot of Democrats stand for re-election and are booted out of office, Let us hear his spin then!

I am just SO GLAD that NewsReal is up and running (among others!! Yay!) because this kind of leftist tripe used to go unchallenged. Oh, happy day.
